Sounds like a bad LCD to me.

First check warranty status by calling manufacturer as if you work on some of this stuff yourself you voice the warranty!!

If this is in the laptop, you might want to reseat the lcd cables to make sure they are screwed down snug. If this does not fix it, replace the LCD panel.
If this is a desktop LCD i would try another one. If the other lcd works, replace the LCD.

I think that the connectors from the backlight inverter board that go to the LCD panel's backlight are a bit loose which explains why it comes back on when tapped. I am positive that unplugging and replugging the inverter cables should do the trick. WOuld like to do it yourself? It requires you to open up the tv ofcourse.

I have a 37in, the screen keep going blank for a bout 5 seconds and when it comes back on the constrast goes up to 100

This is a combination of the backlight inverter and the mainboard. It is going into fail safe mode when the backlight is failing and resetting to default settings. I believe once you change out the backlight inverter that your problem will be solved. Also, check for popped capacitors on the powersupply to make sure that the backlight inverter is getting the 24v it needs to operate properly.

Please rate if this helped :)

Gateway M-1631u screen keeps going to full backlight power

Connect an external monitor to your laptop. If it the image is ok on the external monitor and bad on the laptoop screen it means one of more of backlight/inverter/screen is defective. Have it repaired by a professional.

Display light keeps blinking (dimming).

most likely inverter is on its way out

if it does it a lot when you move the lid back and forth it could be a cracked display cable

easy fix my friend its temporary firmware problem . ok now to fix it plug the sansa in your pc ,just doing so can fix the problem if not ,unplug it from the pc the unit should have stayed on (the blue LED's of the wheel r on but no screen backlight) push the ON button on the side and hold it push for a good 20 secon then releass it that will make the unit do a soft reset and then turn it back on again it may chow the low bat simbol just plug it back in your pc the screen will show the turning arrow the backlight of the screen will work, let it recharge and there you go fix.
