  • henryup39 Jun 17, 2009

every thing appears in order but still does not work.

  • henryup39 Jun 17, 2009

One of your links just gives an advertisement on music down load, no thanks for the help. I would not know how to down load drivers. Why ? the system worked before a tech adjusted something. No thanks, I will move on.

  • henryup39 Jun 17, 2009

Want down your list and attempted all, no changes. These directions are over my head. thanks for the try.

  • henryup39 Jun 17, 2009

Sorry I would not know how to manupulate drivers. these directions are way over my head as well as is how to use this sight.

  • henryup39 Jun 17, 2009

Your directions were great, but a screen finaly came up and said, "Does not support this application," or something close to that. My laptop and desktop worked fine with Skype until a tech worked on my email sites problems, which was bringing on msft outlook email. The tech is not answering my calls about this.

  • henryup39 Jun 20, 2009

At this time only a speaker symbol appears in the bottom tray, Althought it was there previously, before I tryed fixing things on my own. How to get it back? I did not figure/find out how.

My mic is a head set by logtech as recommended by Skype. This head set worked fine until my system was worked on.

  • henryup39 Jun 20, 2009

    Also using window XP

  • henryup39 Jun 20, 2009

i PRINTED your directions and will work on applying them. It will take a couple of days. Thanks

  • henryup39 Jun 25, 2009

i HAVE DONE EVERYTHING THAT YOu suggested and that I understood.there is no change. i am giving up on this, Thanks for the effort.

Windows with the latest Service Packs and updates, available from http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/
• Device (sound, video, motherboard etc) drivers (those can be found on the device manufacturer's website - contact the manufacturer/vendor of the device for more information)
• DirectX - the core multimedia component of Windows. The newest version can be found at: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.aspx

After that please reinstall Skype as follows:

1. Backup your Skype chat history files.

• Close Skype
• Go to C:\Documents and Settings\your_windows_username\ApplicationData\Skype\your_skype_name
and copy this directory somewhere safe (burn to CD, etc.)

2. Uninstall Skype.

• Open "Control Panel" (Start > Control Panel, or Start > Settings > Control Panel) and choose "Add/Remove Programs".
• Select Skype from the list and click on "Remove".
• Go to C:\Program Files and delete the Skype folder from there.
• Go to C:\Documents and Settings\your_windows_username\ApplicationData and delete the Skype folder from there.
• Go to C:\Documents and Settings\All users\ApplicationData and delete the Skype folder from there.
• Open “Windows Start Menu” and select "Run".
• Enter "regedit" in the text box and click "OK".
• Open the "Edit" drop-down menu and click "Find".
• Search for the keyword "Skype". Delete all search results.

3. Download and install the latest version of Skype at:
http://www.skype.com/go/download

4. To restore your chat history, move Skype chat history files back to:
C:\Documents and Settings\your_windows_username\ApplicationData\Skype\your_skype_name.

Note: There is no need to backup contacts as they are stored centrally on our server and can be accessed anywhere as long as you log in with the same username and password. A detailed list of your calls and SMS messages is available at:
https://secure.skype.com/store/myaccount/history.html

Hope this helps.

Audio settings, in Windows and Skype

XP: Windows Control Panel / Sounds, Speech and Audio Devices / Sounds & Audio Devices
or Right-click speaker icon in system tray and select "Adjust Audio Properties"

Volume / Device Volume: Make sure “Mute” is NOT checked in this window.
    Volume
/ Device Volume / Advanced: If there is no “Microphone” section in this
window, go to Options / Properties and check “Microphone” in the

Audio / Sound Playback: Your on board sound/Sound Card
Audio / Sound Recording: Your on board sound/Sound Card
Audio / Sound Recording / Volume: Make sure "Microphone" is selected and the volume slider is at the center or higher
Audio / Sound Recording / Volume / Advanced: If “Microphone Boost” or “20db Boost” is present, select it

XP: Windows Control Panel / Sounds, Speech and Audio Devices / Sounds & Audio Devices
or Right-click speaker icon in system tray and select "Adjust Audio Properties"

Volume / Device Volume: Make sure “Mute” is NOT checked in this window.

Skype / Tools / Options / Audio Settings:

Microphone: Your headset/mic or USB device or Web cam mic, as you prefer
Speakers: Your headset, USB device or speakers, as you prefer
Ringing: VoIPVoice USB Phone or on board sound/Sound Card; also tick Ring PC speaker

    Note:
The audio devices you want to use MUST be present in these Skype device
lists. If they are not, check the device connections and driver
    installations again.

    2. Microphone and Speaker connections

Check if your mic (pink) and speaker
(lime) jacks are in the proper sockets (it is easy to reverse them) and
fully inserted (they sometimes stick only partially inserted)
If your microphone or headset has a “Mute” switch, make sure it is not on
If your speakers or headset has a volume control, make sure it is turned up
    For
test only you can use an earphone instead of microphone (really)! Just
unplug the microphone, plug the earphone into the microphone jack, and
talk into your earphones. (I know it sounds silly, but it might tell
you if your microphone is defective)
A standard microphone plugged into Line In will NOT work.

    3. Check audio in Windows.

XP: Start / All Programs / Accessories / Entertainment / Sound Recorder

Vista: Start [Orb] / All Programs / Accessories / Sound Recorder

    Make
a short recording with the microphone; you should see the level meters
moving as you speak. On Windows XP, you can then play back what you
    recorded.

double click on the sound icon by the clock at the bottom toolbar

make sure that none of the things in there are "muted"

that was my problem after i accidently pluged my headphones into my computers mic jack.

it auto mutes the build in one if you do that

mike is muted again.. I can't dl attachment you posted, it takes me to http://forum.skype.com/index.php?act=att..., which is a blank pg..

pressing mute button again and again wont un-mute mike, and the button doesn't change, it always stays in "muted" icon..
    Warning
you must remember your Skype username and password before you do this
otherwise you will not be able to log in when you restart Skype because
the link to your username and password details will be lost when you
delete config.xml and all options are reset to default. You are also
advised as a safety factor to backup your contacts list by going to the
    Main Skype window>………Tools>…….advanced>……..Backup contacts to
file. This will save a yourskypeusername.vcf file to a location on your
    PC of your choice.

First logoff Skype and shut it down.

    Start
    Run
    Type:%appdata%
Now look for the Skype folder.

Open that folder and look for another folder with the same name as you Skype username.
In this folder you will see the file config.xml

    Rename this file to config1.xml.

    Re-run
Skype and log in with your data and a new config.xml file will be built
and all you contacts should still be shown on you contacts list if this
is not so you can always reverse what you have just done and nothing
    has been lost.

If doing this first step does not solve your
problem this time when you open the Skype you need to look for the file
shared.xml. Do the same to this as you did to you config.xml file.

    Re-run
Skype and log in with your data and a new shared.xml file will be
built, if this does not solve you problem you can always reverse what
you have just done and nothing has been lost.

    As a very last resort:

    Exit Skype
    Start
    Run
    Type: %appdata%
    delete folder "Skype".
    Re-run
Skype and log in with your data. the Skype folder and both the config
and shared.xml files will be rebuilt when you restart Skype as it could
be a problem conflict in both files that is causing your problem and
you will only find this out by deleting both files.

Hello henryup39

I really want to help you with this.

I understand it was working before but please confirm the following for me:

  • What operating system the computer is running (such as Windows XP, Vista, etc)
  • The make and model of the microphone (may be written on it somewhere)
Along with that, please tell me the following:
  1. Right-click on the small speaker icon in your system tray (that is next to the time in the bottom-right) and choose Recording Devices
  2. What do you see listed in the Recording Devices tab?
I should be able to assist further. Please get back to me.

Best regards

Hello.
1. Audio settings all versions

Skype:
Skype-->Main window…..>Tools -> Options -->Sound Devices-->audio device/USB/etc Audio Device (do NOT use windows default device)

You can also tick the ring pc speaker check box as this is a good backup to alert you even
if the main speakers are off or turned down.

Windows:
Start-->Control panel-->Sound and Audio devices
On the audio tab set the default playback device to your main soundcard (AC97/Audio-chip/add-on-adapter), etc.
Your installed audio device must be present there.
If not, reinstall audio device

2)Check if your micro (pink) and speaker (lime) jacks are really correct and fully inserted!
They sometimes stuck.
For test only you can use earphone instead of microphone for Line In.
Standard micro in Line In will NOT work.
Go to:
Start
Programs
Accessories
Entertainment or go to
Volume Control; right click on loudspeaker icon in Task Tray
Options
Microphone
Scroll down
Check "Microphone"
If the bar "Microphone" is available, the microphone is detected by Windows now go on
(If not, Windows has a problem with your microphone)
Just to check if your microphone is broken or bad, you can use your headphones instead. They really work!
Which one L or R is microphone now, I think it's L
Check "Advanced properties"

Check Micro "Advanced"
Open
Check "20db boost" or "1.MIC boost" depending on language version
Volume level can be left in any position.
Mute microphone!!!

3. Check audio now on windows base.
Start
Programs
Accessories
Entertainment
Soundrecorder

4. Once done, test with Skype Test Call echo123.
Good Luck

Please Vote.

Microphone doesnt work with skype

I've heard of this problem alot, I took 10 minutes today with my friend with this headset to figure out a fix.
From what i can tell, Skype doesnt pick up the Microphones input.

The only solution I could figure out so far has been this.
A voice changing program called MorphVox Pro (by Screaming bee) offers a Trial.
If you download it, and set up your microphone on this to work, You can then in skype select the MorphVOX Pro as your microphone, and you can use this chat program to work with your headset.
This is only a temporary fix But it is a step in the right direction, I'll be forwarding my email to Razer later to try and get some updates for the headset.

Best Regards
Ricky.

SKYPE VIDEO PROBLEM
To test if the Logitech QuickCam is functioning, check the USB cable; make sure it is connected properly. Then click on Start - All Program - Logitech - Logitech QuickCam and see if you can get the camera to capture your image/video. If this works then the fault is with the Skype configuration. Sometimes the WEBcam settings drop off and the WEBcam need to be selected again. Open Skype - Tools - Options - Video Settings and select the Logitech QuickCam Also check the Audio Settings for the Microphone THEN click on Save. Avoid connecting the WEBcam to an USB hub. SKYPE MICROPHONE PROBLEM
If the person cannot hear you then, either your microphone driver not installed or not working OR the microphone is not configured in Skype.
To test your microphone then click on Start - All Programs - Accessories - Entertainment - Sound recorder. Then record your voice and then play it back. If this is OK then the microphone need to be configured in Skype.
To configure the microphone - Open Skype - Tools - Options - Audio Settings for the Microphone THEN click on Save.

I CAN SEE OTHER PERSON AND THEY CAN SEE ME BUT CANT HEAR ME BUT I CAN HEAR THEM .WHAT HAVE I DONE WRONG

The problem is either the microphone is not connected/faulty or the wrong microphone is selected in the Skype Audio setting.
To check if the microphone is working - go to Start - All Programs - Accessories - Entertainment - Sound Recorder and do a test recording.
If the sound is doesn't work then open Device Manager - Sound, video and game controllers and check the microphone is enabled and working. If it isn't listed or has a yellow ? against the microphone then you need to install the microphone device driver.
If the microphone is working then open Skype then click on Tools tab -then Options - Audio Settings - then in microphone setting and click on the microphone list to select your model microphone. Then Save your settings.
To test your microphone settings then go to Contact list and select Echo / Sound Test.Service and follow the instructions. If this works then your friends will be able to hear you,

V6105NR MICROPHONES DO NOT TRANSMIT

Does your microphone work with other applications.  If you are running windows XP, go to Start>all programs>accessories>entertainment>sound recorder.  Record your self and play it back.  If you can hear yourself, then the issue is with skype.  Make sure you go through the audio setup wizard in skype to get the best preformace out of your microphone.  If no other programs work, then you may need to reinstall the drivers for that microphone and try it again.

Cannot hear my voice in the skype test skype is set up on the ubuntu operating system

Firstly, what version of Ubuntu and Skype are you using? Also what machine.

There are three areas where the issue could be - within Skype's settings, withing Ubuntu's settings or with the microphone/soundcard.

I'll cover some quick attempts at solving, assuming it's the first two.

OK, first make sure Ubuntu's settings are correct. If you can access the sound settings (generally there is a Speaker icon in the top right). Right click, 'open volume control'. Often you need the 'boost' level as well as the usual microphone - if you have 'Front Mic', sometimes you need 'Front Mic Boost too', likewise if you have 'Microphone', you might need 'Microphone Boost'. In the Volume Control, click preference to add the 'boost' level.

If that didn't work it might be your Skype settings. In Skype options, 'sound devices' try changing the 'sound in'.

If those didn't work it might be hardware (or another trickier software issue) - try testing your microphone on something else.

Logitech quick cam communicate stx on Vista - microphone not working

Why isn't the microphone on my camera working?
trnsp.gif Answer The microphone may not work because of a hardware or configuration problem. To determine if it's a hardware problem, test the microphone in Sound Recorder.

  1. Click "Start," > "Programs" ("All Programs" for Windows XP) > "Accessories" > "Entertainment" > "Sound Recorder."
  2. Click the Record button and speak into the microphone of the camera. You should see the green line move, indicating the application is picking up sound.
  3. Click the Stop button.
  4. Click the Play button. If there is no sound at playback, check to make sure the correct device is selected.
    1. Click "Edit," then "Audio Properties."
    2. Make sure Logitech is listed as the Preferred device for "Sound recording."
The microphone may also be defective. To test this, try the camera on another USB enabled system.
