Abs lamp is on. I cant get tuareg in gear

What year is it ? Turning the key on , nothing works ? Do the head lamps work ? are they bright ? Instrument cluster warning lamps come on with key on - check engine , air bag , ABS , etc....

The ABS controller has nothing to do with the back lights. Please anyone reading this post, do not mess with anything concerning ABS systems. An ABS light on will not effect conventional brake function. It can only be serviced by a trained tech. Also very expensive. Your original problem is most likely at the harness connector, located in the frame between the rear axel and bumper. If the truck has been used for pulling and launching a boat, this is where a trailer light harness is tapped into for trailer lights. Backing a boat into the water compromises this connector. (corrosion will not let the truck lights work) The connector is usually on left side frame rail) Conductive grease after cleaning

Year/make/model?? There may be an override button to depress to get vehicle in gear from a lock position. You will need to have the ABS codes scanned to determine the source of the problem. You can also try disconnecting / reconnecting the battery to see if it will reset the ABS system and allow the gearshift to move

no City cars here, USA< so cant find your manual for free
try Honda dealer for a real manual , get one and avoid,
costly repairs, and being standard.
igoring lamps can be costly or unsafe, eg: ABS. is one that is never
to be ignored, (brakes)

If you take wheel off you will see wire going to back of brake with round gear with Teeth on it that's the sensor

Based on the list of problems, my guess would be the key switch or a fuse problem. You are dealing with 4 different problems since the brake light switch and the shifter could be related.
I would check for ABS codes first.

If the second gear problem happened just as the ABS lamp came on.....Car is in Limp Mode.

ABS system has set likely a code about safety...ie" Brake system failure..... although 3rd gear is usual default.

You must scan for codes and remedy the fault/s.

Retrieve the codes you have ,that set the Malfunction Indicator

Diagnose from the code

May be a bad Wheel Speed Sensor ,nothing related
to what you changed

You will see the wiring going to each speed sensor behind
each of your 4 wheel hubs
