I had trouble connecting my PC to an airport network that my mac was working just fine on. I found this forum to get an "equivalent network password" and it worked great. The pictures were helpful too. Go to the Airport Utility and Then the "Base Station" header on your mac. Then select "Equivalent Network Password". It will be super long and lots of letters and numbers. Worked for me! Here is the forum: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1790

Good luck, hope this helps!

I would recommend purchasing a newer router that is more powerful. The Apple Airport Extreme is a fantastic router. If none of these choices work then you can either connect your Macbook via ethernet or move it closer to your router. here is the Apple Airport Extreme. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC340LL/A/AirPort-Extreme?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY

Apple Macbook Pro does not connect to wireless network

The antennas in the Macbook Pros have had an issue with reception due to the aluminum housing of the laptop but, should still receive decent reception just not as much as a plastic Macbook or plastic PC laptop. It could be possible that the antenna's cables have become disconnected from the Airport Extreme card inside your Macbook Pro, that the card itself is faulty or damaged or that the Antennas themselves have been damaged in some way. As always make sure you have the latest updates and have installed any driver updates from Apple regarding your Airport Extreme card. Here's an article that may help eliminate any wireless interference that may be affecting your signal strength. Apple - Wireless Interference hope this helps, if so don't forget to comment, vote, etc. Thank you.

I have a macbook and a pc with a cable modem and an airport extreme. I want to hook them both up so I can use the internet at the same time on the pc and the macbook. How do I do this or hook it up?

Not sure what you have tried yet, so I'll suggest the first thing to try ...
The cable modem will have an ethernet jack on it for "LAN" - you will need an ethernet cable ... plug the cable into this jack .. and the other end of the cable into the airport extreme .. and then power up the airport extreme .. if the airport extreme is new, it will set itself up automatically .. if not new, it might still set itself up automatically - look for a green light on the extreme ... if you have a green light you should be in good shape
Of course your computers have to be in range, say within about 100 feet of the extreme to pick up its wireless signal.
In the MacBook, make sure Airport is turned on - in System Preferences under Network.
Your MacBook should figure things out all by itself and you should be able to connect to the Internet.
On the PC, you'll need a wireless card if you don't already have one ...

You should be able to use the internet simultaneously and each computer should be able to share files if you want to try that (file sharing is turned off by default on the Mac, not sure about the PC)

Good luck!

I would assume that your neighbor is running a b or g network without password.

To eliminate the signal issue, do the trouble shooting have the phone at least 6-7 feet away from the Airport. Try to have the phone connected without the network password first to check if it detects it. You can either reposition the airport or change the channels to resolve this.

Check with the airport if it is running on N or 802.11n, have it set to b or g or if it is running on all of them, then it should be fine since the phone does not support wireless N. If the issue is with the security, try first to connect without any network password. Once you have the phone connected, try out the different encryption one at a time. The phone supports WEP, WPA and WPA 2. Encryption may be tricky as this stage as different manufacturers may prefer specific encryptions.

You should only use Windows xp for running a program that is not yet available from Apple. There shouldn't be much reason to link to the net while in Windows. Also while in Windows you are wide open to any viruses that exist. Try getting your work done without getting on the net, then go back to your Apple format. There you are 99% free of viruses. … Still need to link onto the net let me know I will ask at our Apple Computer Club on Monday
