have you tried to restore the file system or database? there is a "secret" menu that you can enter by holding the power button down. cant remember for how long, so i advise you to go to yourtube and find the vid where they show how to. ill cross my fingers that it will help ya with your problem.
and just so you know it... i also got read disk problems after the 3.00 update, and it truely messed it up after the 3.01 update, now it wont read anything unless i eject and insert the game a zillion times...
easiest fix is to take all hdmi straight to tv. then come out of tv with optical cable to your receiver. that way what ever your watching will automatically be sent to the receiver thru optical. you even will get dolby dig. also you can have audio from your tv when you dont want to use your surround. keeps receiver on one input also.
the audio skipping like that mean that the wires are shorting or frayed... you will have to replace your audio cords. Just as a note if this doesnt fix it theres a chance its inside the ps3 or just your audio reciever. Oh, before you go buying the audio cord try messing with the audio setting in the menu first, it might just be your audio sampling is set too low
What kind of fan do you have installed? Cpu wise? it sounds like your cpu is overheating when your playing games. Due to high graphics. Try getting a better cooling system to stop the shutdowns. With the ram, is it because your Gpu shares some of the ram? This is common with chipsets and some GPUs.
Sorry or posting twice, im having some issues of my own here ;)
