Question about Apple iPhone 3G

1 Answer

Iphone 3G fell, screen intact but, now when turning on

Screen appears to have an ink blot on it. When lit up device has rainbow lines across the screen. Is the repairable? If so how much? Where do I get the parts from? Does it make sense to just buy new device?

Find a repair shop...easy fix 10-30 mins max. Parts needed are lcd screen/digitizer. If front glass is cracked then you will have to replace that as well. I just had mine done and it is perfect. 120 dollars CDN. You can also order the parts online and attempt the job yourself....youtube for demonstration, but only if your feeling up to the task.

Good luck and hope this helped

Bluetooth StatusThe Bluetooth icon appears in the iPhone status bar at the top...

Bluetooth StatusThe Bluetooth icon appears in the iPhone status bar at the top of the screen:
  • (blue) or (white): Bluetooth is on and a device is connected to iPhone. (The color depends on the current color of the status bar.)
  • (gray): Bluetooth is on but no device is connected. If you’ve paired a device with iPhone, it may be out of range or turned off.

Download the latest iTunes to your computer and reset the iPhone. Then re-sync it.
Reset

To reset iPhone, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds. During this time, a red "power off" slider may appear and the screen may go black, but do not release Sleep/Wake and Home buttons until the Apple logo appears.
If iPhone won't turn on, or the display freezes or doesn't respond
  1. Press and hold the Home button for at least six seconds, until the application you were using quits.
  2. If that doesn't work, turn iPhone off and turn it on again. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPhone for a few seconds until a red slider appears, and then slide the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
  3. If that doesn't work, reset iPhone. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears

More resets:
Try This:
1. Remove Sim Card
2. Hold in 'Home' button and 'On/Off' button together until Apple logo appears
3. Replace Sim Card
4. Hold in 'Home' button and 'On/Off' button together until normal phone screen appears.

Also, Try this:
1.) Shut down the iPhone 3G.
2.) Start up iTunes
3.) Hold down HOME button on the iPhone 3G
4.) While keeping the HOME button depressed, plug in the Sync cable
5.) A message will pop up to ask if you want to reset.
6.) Just click YES and the reset process should start.

My iphone 3G fell face down really hard but had its bumper on so the screen didnt crack but it's just showing lines now and its a black screen. can anything be done to salvage the situation?

Hi Hiorbamy,
You might have just busted the screen. If so, you might be able to fix it for just under $26.00.
Step 1) Take the broken iPhone 3G to your nearest Apple Store and ask a Genius to confirm wether the iPhone is salvageable by simply replacing the screen. After the diagnosis, thank the Apple Genius, and leave.
Step 2) If the Apple Genius has confirmed that the problem is JUST the screen, order a spare one online. You can find the very easily by doing a simple Google Search for: "Pre-Installed Apple 3G Screen". You can find them for arround $25-$30
Step 3) Install the new iPhone screen by following the instructions that came with the replacement iPhone Screen.

iPhone may exhibit a problem where it does not respond to any button, switch, or touchscreen input.
  1. To turn it off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
  2. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone.
  3. To turn iPhone on, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds.

Pairing a Parrot CK3100 to Iphone 3GS

My iPhone 3G is now connected. Did 3 things:

1. Deleted every existing paired device on the Parrot CK3100.

2. Pressed all 3 buttons at once. Parrot CK3100 screen lit up and buttons lit up after about 5 secs. Turned car engine off. Parrot switched off. Turned car on again.

3. Went to settings, advanced settings, pair device (and also switched on iPhone bluetooth) and tapped Parrot CK3100 on the iPhone screen (which had now appeared) - phone connected.

After about a minute sync iPhone phonebook appeared on Parrot.

Hope this is helpful.
