Question about Toshiba TP55G60 55" Rear Projection Television
My Toshiba TP55G60 will shutdown almost immediately after start-up then the red light on the front panel begins to blink. Nothing will work until the unit is unplugged and replugged in. Sometimes it will start rigth back up, sometimes it will imediately shutdown again and sometimes it will stay on for a few minutes and then shutdown. In all cases I have to unplug it to get it to try to restart. Once started picture and everything else are fine. Problem is getting worse. The unit is 12-13 years old so i dont want to spend alot to fix, yet the picture is good when it works.
Any help would be aprpeciate.
Check the powersupply for loose solder conncetions. Especially in the protect circuit.
There is a white waffer looking IC that has been known for the pins to pop open from the
high frequency output of the power supply.
The Powersupply is on the right side and pretty easy to tell. Please use caution when
working on this set because the caps in the powersupply can hold a good charge. If you have any doubts about doing it yourself, call a professional and hopefully the pain in the pocket won't overcome the pain threshold.
