Question about Sanyo ECJ-PX50S 5-Cup Rice Cooker

SANYO ECJ-PX50 Rice cooker has stopped working

Two year old cooker, purchased while we lived in Japan. Have been using it in Miami, Florida for past year. All buttons stopped working a week ago. Cooker still shows correct time when plugged in, but none of the buttons light up or perform.

There is no accessible fuse or other possible conclusion? Japanese products - especially those manufactured for use by the Japanese populace - have truly amazing durability. Machine has never been dropped, been exposed to water, or otherwise handled harshly. Just the wife and I in the home - so no children to jar it or manhandle it. Simply find it difficult to believe the key component of the unit has given up the ghost so quickly. Sorry for the incredulous response, but the item cost better than thirty-thousand yen (high 200's in dollars), and SANYO is a reliable brand to buy.

Interesting note, discovered last night that the clock continues to work even when unit is unplugged. Never noticed that before.

It must have an internal battery which powers the clock. Also I assume this cooker is quite high tech as it has some sort of programmable cooking setting..am I right? I will suggest to check the fuse first and secondly watch the power cable and look for sign of strains and possible loose connection.Due to the nature that this has been moved around a lot the wiring must have been attached lots of times during moving home.If you have a meter then test the wire connectivity between the plug and the cooker. If that does not help then you will need to disassemble this unit and look if there is any internal fuse.Further than that I can't help you unless I can see this appliance.

It sounds like the control board has gone out. It would be cheaper to replace the unit than to repair this one. you can try to find a used unit on www.Appliance411.com. Good
Luck.

I have s Sanyo ECJ-S35S rice cooker does not heat up. When I press Start/Cook button it keep flashing and light does not stay on. Any idea what I can do?

A rice cooker that doesn't cook anymore usually requires a thermal cutoff replaced. They act like a fuse and look like a resister. Look underneath it is crimped to one of the leads but perhaps underneath some braided insulation. Purchase another cutoff at an electronics components store (not radioshack). If there is not a rating on it try 185 degrees celcius.

Sanyo ECJ-D100S Micom 10-Cup Rice Cooker stop working. Just use couple hours ago before it stop working. It is 5, 6 years old, looks like there's no power, only clock. All buttons do not response...

I have the same problem today. I'm lucky to find this thread and fix the problem. The cooker have two broken wires. The good news is that one wire is black and the other is yellow. If both were yellow, I might have to figure out which one connects to which.

Thank you all for the questions and answers,

Liyan
