System powers on but no video

Power light on mb is on
fans all power on
rom drive flashes as it would booting up
hd powers
Asus board

So heres what I have tried to diagnose the problem

1. tried several different video cards
2. reseated the RAM
3. tried different RAM
4. Unplugged the system and held the power button down for 1 minute then plugged it back in abd tried booting it up.
5. Reset the CMOS
6. Tried different monitors.
7. Unplugged all the drives and booted it up.

Im thinking the CPU is fried. Can anyone think of what I may have forgotten to do? Im no stranger to building my own systems ive been doing it for years but this is screwy. I forgot to mention as well there are no beeps at the start up and the internal speaker is plugged in.

Yeah with what you have just told me I would say that the CPU is fried and you need to get a new one.

Actually if you are going to scrap it I could use it for parts if you wouldn't mind?

Does not boot

To exclude a possible short, remove the MB from the case and place MB on to a couple phone books thats covered with a non static MB bag. Connect power supply, keyboard, mouse, primary hard disk drive, monitor and internal speaker. Also leaving CPU/heatsink assembly and memory connected.
Short the power-on pins by using a pen. See page
1-34 in you're manual, PWR BTN. If the system boots ok than there was a short with the MB while in the case. If the system does not boot than the MB is bad or the bios needs flashed. Keep the MB out of the case and follow the instructions on page 2-2 section 2.1.1

System wont power on unless mb power connector on mb is reset

by mb pwr connector do you mean the swich on the pc case that you press to turn it on or do you mean the large block connector form the power supply ?

If you mean the case switch then you have a faulty one that is sendinga constant signal and locking up the power supply

Fans run at full speed under normal task.

THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE CPU AND MB AND PSU IS NOT COOLING OFF ENOUGH AND CAUSING THE FAN TO RUN ON HIGH ALL THE TIME, THE PSU MAY NOT HAVE ENOUGH WATTS POWER TO RUN THE CONFIGURATION TO KEEP THE SYSTEM AND HARDWARE TO COOL.

I READ IT IN ONE OF MY PC MAGAZINE, ANOTHER PERSON UPRADED SYSTEM, ADDED SOME OTHER STUFF BUT THE MB AND POWER SUPPLY UNIT DIDNT HAVE ENOUGH WATTS TO SUPPORT BASIC REQUIREMENTS OPERATING THE SYSTEM BASIC NEEDS.
FIND SOFTWARE THAT KEEPS EYE ON HEAT ISSUES, MB, VIDEO CARD, RAM, PS, CPU, CPU COOLERS, NIC CARDS, SOUND CARDS,
ETC.
EACH PART REQUIRES SO MUCH POWER
AND HERE HOW IT BRAKE DOWN FOR EACH COMPONET

MB 20-35+ WATTS
CD ROM 20-25 WATTS
DVD 30-45 WATTS
DISK DRIVE 5 WATTS
HD 5-15 WATTS
STANDARD VIDEO VARD 5-15 WATTS
MEMORY 5 WATTS PER MB

NEW SYSTEMS WITH THE FOLLOWING STUFF IN IT FLOPPY DRIVE,CD-ROM, MB, 16MB RAM, REQUIRES A MIN. 150 WATTS OF POWER.

BUT I KNOW YOU MAY HAVE TOP OF THE LINE VIDEO CARD WITH GGR4 WITH 512MB
MEMORY, 2-8 GIG OF RAM, 23 INCH LCD MONITOR, 2 500GB HD, BLUETOOTH AND WIRELESS NETORK, AND WIFI CAPABILITIES,
NEW DUAL CORE CPU TOP LINE MOTHERBOARD, COOLED VIDEO CARD,RAM COOLER ALSO AND THIS SYSTEM POWER WATTAGE REQUIREMENTS MAYBE SOME WHERE AROUND 400-600 WATT, AND MOST OF THAT IS FOR THE SYSTEM RAM AND THE VIDEO RAM YOU ARE RUNNING
REMEMBER 5 WATTS PER 1 MEGABYTE OF
RAM
IT WILL ADD UP FAST BOY'S AND GAL'S

ROD

PS I HOPE I DIDNT BORE ANYONE,
IT MAY SAVE YOUR SYSTEM FROM BURNING UP.

Vertical lines at BIOS splash screen

Is your power supply rated to hand the board and the graphics card and all the other hardware?

Did the issue star with the video card?

try removing the extras like the CD drive and any other PCI devices and just putting the graphics card in and whats needed to boot the computer.

Also, reseat the graphiocs card.

also try installing just the drivers for the video card without any of the over clock software.

Try resetting your BIOS by disconnecting the power cabel and removing the BIOS battery and waiting a minute, put back in and restart/

No video output on either video out ports. Please help I was in the process of doing an adaware scan and playing solitaire while it was running and PC hung. ctrl-alt-del did'nt do anything, no mouse, no...

You mentioned you placed "another" PCI-E card into PCIEX16_2 slot.
You need to remove the video card from the PCIEX16_1 slot first & try the second video card in PCIEX16_1 slot. Page 2-4 in manual.
Boot the system & see if you have video. If yes than the other PCI-E video card has an issue.
Just adding a second card will not boot.
You do want to replace the video in slot 1. This way you do not need to make any changes in you're bios or add the additional power (Which is required to run both at the same time). (Kind of hard to get into the bios when there is no video display).

Luck!
