This appears to be your computer problem rather than internet problem! If you are getting 15mb/sec that means there is nothing wrong with internet speed or the router. Also check speed on www.speedtest.net you can also do ping test on this site to make sure its not internet!

I have a Gateway 838GM. It has 4 slots for RAM. It came with 1/2 gig RAM (2 sticks, 256 Megs each). I tried installing new RAM- 2 sticks, 1 gig each. If I replace the original 2 sticks, the computer...

Here are the specifications of the Gateway 838GM: You will have to replace the existing memory with thesesettings only: The machine comes with: 512 MB = 256 MB (removable) + 256 MB PC3200DDR SDRAM DIMMs. Supports Dual Channel DDR Nowyou can only upgrade to 4.0 Gig total. I would recommend going to this link and order the correct memory foryour computer I use them quite a bit. http://www.memorystock.com/memory/Gateway838GM.html Rob

Pixel shader error 06 on my optiplex 330

Graphics Card
Minimum Requirement
VRAM (256 MB)
DirectX 9.0c / Shader 3.0
NVIDIA GeForce 6800 series
ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro

Your Dell has an Intel GMA 3000 onboard with up to 256 MB shared memory and isn't listed so probably isn't supported.

I hace a compaq presario 700 . I added 256 memory

remove the memory ... try again ...

there is the possibility your memory was not seated correctly and/or it is not the correct memory.

remove it to get going again ...

256 is a strange number ...

please go to www.4allmemory.com and have them scan your computer. They will make recommendations based on that scan. Compare what you got with their recommendation.

Old memory + new

Depends. I think your dell 2400 will accept up to 2GB, in which case it shouldn't be an issue. Some systems like only paired memory, but yours isn't one of them. I recently upgraded a gateway with exactly your config and it works just fine. In fact, better than ever.
You'll quickly find out when you plug them in.
Also see this link to the crucial memory advisor.
And that way if you ever decide to max it out...

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

Added a memory stick to my Dell 2400 Desktop computer and the monitor, mouse, & keyboard won't work

Hi

The supported Memory types for Dimension 2400 Series is PC2100 (266-MHz) or PC2700 (333-MHz) DDR SDRAM (non-ECC). Supported Memory capacities are 128, 256, or 512MB and a Max if 1GB (1024MB).

The first obvious question is does the new 512MB Memory module meet the above specification? Some Memory modules are able to steep down speed.

If it does, then first ensure the new memory module is properly installed. Take ESD (ElectroStatic Discharge) precautions or you may damage the new memory module and/or the system board.

To proceed compare the system beeps and diagnostics lights color and sequence to the Advanced Troubleshooting guide.

It is possible that the new memory is DOA (Dead On Arrival). Or there is a new fault on the system. If you have access to another compatible system, you may test the new and old memory modules. You may also swap the new and old memory modules to determine if the memory slot is at fault.

Lastly, if you remove the new memory module, does the system complete POST (Power On Self Test)?. If it does you may indeed have a DOA or incompatible part.

Thank you for your help last time

256 mb of memory is not very much. It's the bare minimum you can get by with running Windows XP. Adding more would certainly be an improvement.
Only 1 gig of free space left on an 80 gig hard drive is not much room for Windows to work with. I would definitely try to get rid of or back up some files to make more room. You should also run a system clean up and do a defragmentation of the hard drive.

You should keep your anti virus software up to date if you have one installed. If not you can go HERE and run Trend Micro's Houscall on your PC. Viruses and Spyware will bog down a system and cause it to run extremely slow.
