Problem for Canon PowerShot A620 Digital Camera
I have the same basic problem.
The LCD will display the menu commands and settings, but the camera will not capture images. I replaced the batteries and the memory card. I took multiple photos (mostly using the AUTO setting). On Playback mode, the camera displayed only black screens. I downloaded the images to both the Canon and PhotoShop software and also retrieved only black (i.e., blank) images.
