-   The triple hinge that supports the screen of the Samsung 970p monitor and connects it to its swivel base does not support the screen. The screen simply rests against the table top and can not be raised.
The center hinge is frozen in this position and I am afraid to apply too much force for fear of breaking the darn thing.
Question: Is it possible to open the hinges and repair them in some way?
It is a beautiful device and I would like to have it working again.
Many thanks,

-   hinge no longer holds up the monitor-   soccerb
From doing a good amount of internet research I have found that this problem is "fixable". Inside the top portion of the arm there is a spring. That spring was made to support the weight of the screen, but after readjusting the screen so many times, the spring loses its ability to hold the weight. If you take apart the top part of the arm (the top part, not the sides, pop it off with a flathead, be careful) you can fix it a number of ways. I used a zip tie. Go right through the middle. and tighten it until you get the screen where you like it (forever). thats just want i did. Do some googleing people!

Hi have the same problem - started about a year after I got it. I took the covers off to look at it and there's nothing to adjust. It's simply a very poor design. The weakened spring mentioned in another posting is definitely part of the problem on my unit but because the center hinge is also frozen I cannot get all the covers off to get a good look at it. That makes it a real pain in the *** to get the mechanism apart to get a closer look at it so I just left it. Way to go Samsung.

No there was nothing unusual. I had been in the habit of raising and lowering the screen. The hinges became loose and the last time i tried to raise the screen I realized that the center hinge was frozen in place. Can these hinges be opened? Is there a way to restore them?

The monitor is no longer supported by the flexible hinge. Is there any way I can tighten it? I have had the monitor for just over a year.
