Re: Samsung monitor 970p triple hinge.. hinge collapsed...

From doing a good amount of internet research I have found that this problem is "fixable". Inside the top portion of the arm there is a spring. That spring was made to support the weight of the screen, but after readjusting the screen so many times, the spring loses its ability to hold the weight. If you take apart the top part of the arm (the top part, not the sides, pop it off with a flathead, be careful) you can fix it a number of ways. I used a zip tie. Go right through the middle. and tighten it until you get the screen where you like it (forever). thats just want i did. Do some googleing people!

The following is my support chat with Matt from Samsung support. You may glean some information from this that will answer your questions - replacement seems to be the option.

Matt: No there is not sorry.
Matt: When did you purchase the monitor?
wil: i was disappointed not to see this addressed on the support site as it appears it is a common problem with the model - we've always bought samsung products here at the print shop

I'm afraid that in order for us to help you're going to have to be more specific on what's going on here.

How do I open my Samsung 2233sw LCD monitor? I need to open it because something is lose inside going all over the place and I don't want it to short out.

ericc539, To actually SEE how it is done, you could try a visit to YOUTUBE and search for video clips of "lcd monitor repair" and or "lcd monitor disassembly" !!!! My only advice to you is "don't use any sharp cutting instruments like carving knives to part the front bezel from the rear cover after any screws and pedestal have been removed. Could more than triple cost of repair if trip to hospital "ER" is required to fix monitor. Good luck. 12fixlouie

I've just connected my Samsun LCD monitor to a new HP desktop. I had been with a Dell. Part of the horizontal as well as vertical data is off the screen. I can't figure out how to adjust it with the...

you are probably not going to adjust it with the buttons.
You need to go to the video settings in Windows and choose a resolution that fits the screen.
I would be willing to bet that the new screen is not the same aspect ratio as your old one.
You can change resolutions until you find the correct one for your computer and screen.

Cannot find VESA holes...Samsung Syncmaster 970p

I have looked at the specification for this, and although it does show as being VESA compatible (This is a display standard) There is no mention of any "wall mounting" capabilities at all, which would lead me to believe that this is not designed to be put on a mount. also the "Magic Rotation" Technology which is part of this device may rely on it using the proprietory stand, it may well be possible to remove the stand however, but it would require some significant dissasembly as the power connector is on the signal box, and this would need to be seperated from the stand itself. The mounting bolts look to be hidden behind the round pivot cover on the back, and it may be possible to see if mounting is possible simply by removing this, however I would seek information from the manufacturer about this as removing any of the covers would most likely invalidate your warranty, it is possible that this was missold to you and you should be able to take it back as not being fit for purpose.

Flexible hinge

I had the same problem. Samsung will replace the monitor if it is still within the factory warranty -- which I believe is 2 years.
