While working on the laptop it will suddenly freeze. It will work for awhile sometimes and then freeze. You never know when it is going to freeze. My daughter needs it for college. We purchased it at Best Buy May 14, 2007. We have had to take it in 6 times and paid $130.00 to fix it because they claim it is a software issue, but they cannot fix it. After 6th time it still freezes up. What could the problem be, so we can direct Best Buy how to fix it! Your company should know that Best Buy cannot repair your brand of laptops and will not replace the laptop unless it is sent off 4 times and there is a harddrive issue 4 times. They are never going to claim it is a hardrive problem, because they do not want to replace it! If it were only a software issue, why haven't they been able to fix it? They have wiped it clean and they can not fix it. Has this particular laptop had this problem before, so you can guide us on what to tell Best Buy? Serial # N 1973 A10 34858 PLEASE HELP US!!!     I'm not sure who you thought you were writing to, but this is not a manufacturer's support forum, but a general help forum on the internet.

Freeze up problems can be a bear to troubleshoot at times. If you still have warranty left on it I would tell them after all the times you bought it in to please get the hard drive replaced. You can explain to them that every so often you can hear the hard drive making clanking sounds and that might be enough to get them to replace the hard drive.

I do have one other idea you could try in the meantime. If you can get your hands on a known good working hard drive, put it in there and install the operating system on it, the drivers and any apps you want. Run it like this for a week and see if the freeze up and lockups go away. If they do then you know for yourself the hard drive is bad for sure and then you can go back to Best Buy and explain a bit more about why the hard drive is bad.

I recommend you try to work through this tutorial on updating your hardware drivers, follow through with the first 4 steps of these malware removal protocols, and then run chkdsk c: /r according to the instructions here and here. If you are on vista, use these instrucitons.
Then write back with the results and we'll see what more needs to be done.

I had a laptop do the exact same thing and what you need to do is actually send that back into the manufacturer and have them fix it because you will need to get the laptop wiped completely and some other things.

After machine has been on awhile, it will freeze, come back, and then freeze randomly. Don't hear fan much, but sometimes, briefly. Not dusty inside.


Make sure you have adequate ventilation under the laptop. Do not sit laptop on your lap or things such as a sofa, bed, etc. Laps need ventilation
You might also want to run a utility like chkdsk to see if drive has errors.

change the ram memory ...this issues appear when the ram memory is not functional like it should..if you have a way to borrow some just to try ..you will make an ideea
If you have more than one boards in the laptop..remove one by one ..and try to boot with the other/s until you locate the one with problem..

My mp3 freezes


Mine freezes up every once in awhile and once the battery dies, it usually will start up again. It also works sometimes to just keep pushing the power button and hold it down for awhile.

Now mine is not being reconized by my computer. I have been trying to find a driver for it online to see if thats the problem and can't find one anywhere.
