Question about D-Link AirPlus G DWL-G122 802.11g/b Wireless Adapter

1 Answer

Basic Installation Despite following install instructions meticulously, cannot reach first base. Particularly after inserting setup CD and following instructions, D-Link says, switch off computer - hookup wireless adapter via USB and then boot up. Computer will find the new hardware and then XP will install the drivers. The D-Link icon should then appear in  GREEN.  I  cannot get this to happen  on any of three  computers.  Is  MICROSOFT  hard  at  work  somewhere  as  usual  in the background  trying  to frustrate  us?  Our  operating  systems  are  XP  Pro.  Thanks

Re: Basic Installation

You need to use the D-Link USB WiFi Utility and manually configure the WiFi Network. Sometimes the built-in Windows WiFi Configuration doesn't work well with some USB WiFi and/or when no WEP/WPA security installed.  You may need to manually enter the SSID, "Open" encryption and "Disabled or "Not USed" security settings.

Good luck and kind regards.

Error 211

When getting error 211, you will need to manually install the drivers for the adapter.

Exit from the error message, then remove the CD and restart your computer.

Plug linksys usb adapter, the computer will detect the adapter.

Right-click on My computer then click properties, go to Hardware > Device Manager.

Under Other Devices, you will see 802.11 g WLAN with an exclamation point. Right-click on it and select Update drivers.

Then insert the CD. (If the installation setup screen appears, just exit it.)

Then on the update driver screen, click browse and select your CD-ROM drive.

Then click finish.

If you are using Win 7, follow the steps from this link.

If you cannot open the link, just go to In the search bar type 20873. Answer title: Error 211 - Installing Driver Manually for network adapters to work in Win7.

Where does it install to and do i need an installation cd

what you have a is usb wireless network adapter, which is a device that allows you to connect a usb enabled computer (laptop/desktop) to a wireless router (access point) so you can got connect to a network or go online if your router is set up for it.

you would usually need a driver for your computer to recognize and work with this device. the driver usually comes on a cd with the unit. you would usually insert the cd and follow the instructions, or you would usually also install the drive and then connect the device.

hope that helps.

Installation is stuck at 30%

may be the installation software is not working, what you need to do is take the cd out from the computer and just plugg the wireless adapter, when you plug in the wireless adapter it will tell you to insert the cd that came with the usb card so that the software can be installed, once you see this message insert the cd and then follow the setup screen(imp thing:incase you see the screen of the linkys installation donot follow that, follow the windows software setup screen) this will install the software and i am sure the software will get installed if the software has totally gone bad then here is a link you can donwnload the software from website and then try the installation

Linksys WPC54GS wireless adapter installation issue

There's a possibility that the adapter is defective. However, you may still try the following:

1. Make sure to uninstall the software if you still have it installed. Remove it from the Programs list or under Add/Remove Programs.
2. Check Device Manager and make sure adapter is not under Network Adapters nor Other Devices. It might be called Network Controller if driver is not installed correctly.
3. Unplug card, shutdown computer and when PC is powered off, plug card back and restart computer. You may insert the CD on this process, but do not run/continue the CD setup wizard.
4. When computer is back on, you should get a Found New Hardware bubble message or wizard.

Just finish the wizard and tell me how it went. Goodluck!
