Question about Microwave Ovens

1 Answer

I have an Emerson microwave MW8119SB and the light doesn't work inside anymore. I just got it the end of 2008. Other than that it seems to be working ok but a light would be nice so I could see things cooking. Any suggestions? Thanks

Most microwave ovens are easy to change the light globe.

If you can get the cover off where the light is, you should be able to 'unscrew' the light globe itself.

Then simply go to an appliance repair shop and request a new globe.

Hint: Sometimes you can get a globe from an electrical store.

I just moved in here 2.5 weeks ago. At first the none of the numeric buttons on the Emerson mw8119sb worked. Then, after punching them for a while, the 6 worked.

First of try to disconnect it, wait for a minute, then re-power it. After internal tests it's supposed to come up with initial settings (like time/date etc.)

Emerson Microwave Model MW8119SB found blown fuse. Replaced fuse power came back punched in 10 sec started microwave and fuse blew again.

Chances are that either the diode or capacitor are shorted. Be very careful, the capacitor can store a charge and should be discharged first for safety. Hope that helps...

Emerson MW8119SB microwave turns on, but it does not heat.

You have a defective magnetron or blown fuse supplying power to magnetron.

Microwave exploded.

Did it make a popping noise, like a .22 cal pistol? Probably one of the larger capacitors on the power supply blew up.

Emerson Microwave MW8119SB not turning on

Since it's less than one year old, it should be fully covered under warranty. I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer to get it fixed free.

For more help from Emerson visit here or get help using your appliance at 1-800-898-9020. Get help locating an authorized servicer or parts at 1-800-695-0098.
