Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

White floaties My husband and I have been trying to figure out the same thing. We just purchased a water filtration system and contected it up to our refigerator for the water and ice dispenser - we though that would solve the problem. It did not, as the ice started to melt in our crystal clear water we could see white things floating around, we were dissapointed. I am so curious what this is and why it happens. If anyone has any ideas why please share. Thank you so much!

Purchasing a water filtration system for a house

This is very location dependant. Different parts of the country have different needs. I suggest that you contact 3-4 companies and have them submit proposals. They should take a sample of your water, analize it, and then make a reccomendation based on your needs.

Hello I have a GE ( R ) Single stage drinnking water filter like model # GNSV70FBL When i open the Tap it makes a big sound as if there is Air in it and very little water comes out from the sprout. I...

I suggest taking the filters all out and inspecting them. Something is restricting the flow and it sounds like there is an air lock. Also at times carbon fines will plug up the head of the filtration system. So take it all apart, inspect it and see if the head needs cleaning. Put new filters in when done and run the water at faucet until all air is purged and fines flushed out.

Using too much rinse aid will not work. Stick to user manual factory prescriptions. If you use correct amount of rinse aid, and the right product for your dishwasher, that is not the cause of the stains.

Ensure that you are using the right detergent along with rinse aid. Check specifications on manual.

Ensure that the drain well is clean.

Ensure that spray arms have enough pressure, check water level and impeller pump.

If you still get stains on dishes, and you are sure that they had been caused by limescale, that means that the water in your house is too hard. This will also damage your appliances in the long term, causing faults due to accumulation of limescale and rust.

The best thing to do is installing a water filtration system on the appliance inlet.Call your local appliance shop or technician to discuss about the problem and purchase a filtration system for your appliance.

Wont clean dishes, white streaks in washer, foggy glasses

The problem is hard water. There is a new product out called the dishwasher filtration system. It filters the water before it enters your dishwasher. It works amazing and has a money back guarantee. You will love the way your dishes look after the first load. It is also very affordable (like 70 bucks). Go to to find out more info.

The water is not clear any more we have white residue in the kettle. We did change the filter and emptied the tank 3 times before insulting the new filters.

I don't believe that any filtration system is capable of removing dissolved calcium from water and that is what causes the white deposits. Water softeners will, but I don't like the idea of dissolved salts in our tap water.

Floaties in whirlpool kitchen aid water

This is probably from the reservoir behind the crispers' in the fridge. It's a common problem and can be fixed by replacing the reservoir. They are usually replaced with a coil of water line instead of the original type. You can search for parts on line or go to an appliance parts store.

Salt? i know you said you have soft water but probably not enough, the salt replenishes the resin beads so you get a rinse with pure water on the final rinse.

Floaters in filtered ice water

It is caused from calcium carbonate and magnesium among other minerals and is in hard water. When you pour the water out of the tap, no floaties, but when you freeze water, the freezing process forces the minerals into the center of the ice where it forms floaties. It is harmless, just unsightly. You can core the center of ice cubes to remove most floaties but that is impractical, so the other alternative is to get a water softener. Water softeners remove most if not all floaties.

Particles floating in whirlpool filtered water.

okay - we have had this same problem for around 6 weeks - We called a service repairman to come out and he said that these "floaties" are harmless bacteria. We should disconnect the filter and flush the system by using 1 gallon of water a day (wasting it) after the chlorine in the water is allowed to build up again then the "floaties"- bacteria- will go away---- gross :-( We will see if it works---
