I cannot turn off the closed caption on my Zenith C27TV36 television. The cc button on the remote does nothing when I push it and when I am watching TV on COMM2 - the closed caption words in the drop down are greyed out.

great ma ma- first of all if the tv was dropped, then there is a good chance that the pc board was damaged most likely a small crack near the audio section. This sort of repair is probably better left to someone with very good soldering skills. If you think you know someone, let me know I can help. cooltek Feb.15/08

SOURCE: Captions only on certain channels?

Closed captioning isn't broadcast on every channel and program, so the information may not be present. Since captions are displayed on other channels, you know the set is working properly. If you are on a cable system you can try asking their customer service people if they know anything. But the TV is fine.

I cant turn off the closed caption...the cc button on the remote does nothing at all and the menu option for advanced closed caption says off but its still on.

Are you watching a DVD or the TV? If you are watching the DVD you may have to turn off Closed Captioning on the DVD. To do this go to the main menu of the DVD and look for Closed Captioning under options. Turn that off.

I need to activate CC for my Dad, Please help I have to go to work. I have a flat screen SOYO

Determine if closed captioning is available on the program that you've selected. In your program guide, the letters "CC" should appear at the end of the description.
Locate the closed captioning option on your remote. Some remotes have a "CC" button that you simply need to push to activate closed captioning
Locate the closed captioning option in your television's menu if there is no "CC" button on your remote. To do this, push the "menu" button on the remote control. The closed captioning option will probably be in the same section as the language function.
Set the closed captioning option to "on." Within several seconds, you should see the text appear on your screen.
To use closed captioning for DVDs, look for the "CC" label on the lower back section of the DVD case where it lists audio information. Turn on your TV's closed captioning and you should see the captioning like you do on a television program. Alternately, some DVDs include English subtitles that you can turn on in the setup/language menu of the DVD.
Thank you.

Closed caption

Closed caption wont turn off was solved by Bresnan tech. He told me the only way was to push the power button on my remote & then push the menu button right away & it would bring up a white screen & cc would be on it. I could't get it to work so I pushed the power button on my remote & the menu button on my motorola cable box & up came the screen & closed caption was on it. I disabled it & it took off the closed caption. Hope this helps
