I read it could be a covergance IC or something like that I was just wondering if it needs to be replaced proffesionaly or can anyone do it? Where is it in the TV? and where do you find such a part?

you can get the parts at the following link and they provide free instructions on how to install the convergence ICs. Just leave them a email or call them with your model number and they will tell you the correct IC for your model.
