check coolant level. have a compression test done to check for head gasket or cracks. If you have a viscous fan hub then replace it and check fan operation if an electric fan . Run fault codes to check for sensor faults.
You will have to replace the fan sensor. If the fans are not working then the temperature will rise when stopped and cool down when running because of the air coming through he radiator.
A head gasket leak will show up by lose of water and bubbles in the radiator, with it topped up to the neck of the filler. Worst indication is water in the oil and out the exhaust.
There are several things that can cause an engine to overheat. This is why the problem should be DIAGNOSED before spending a bunch of money replacing parts. You can go broke replacing parts and never fix the vehicle.
First, is your radiator cooling fan working? If not, then you must diagnose the cooling fan and cooling fan circuits to find out why.
Did you replace the coolant sensor for the computer or the one for the gauge? (Yes, there are two engine coolant temperature sensors) This brings us to the next question:
Are you sure the engine is actually overheating or is it possible that the gauge could be "lying" to you?
The actual engine temperature should be taken with an infrared thermometer to see if it agrees with the gauge.
When you changed the thermostat and the temp sensor, did you bleed the cooling system properly? There may be air trapped in the engine.
Has the engine been checked for a possible blown head gasket? If it has overheated at all, it is highly likely that you may have a warped cylinder head and/or a blown head gasket.
Is the water pump circulating the engine coolant like it is supposed to? You could have a damaged water pump impeller or a clogged radiator keeping the coolant from circulating properly.
There is a fan coolant temperature sensor on the bottom of the radiator, it has an electrical connector on it, with the key on disconnect the connector, if the fans run constantly with the connector off replace this sensor.
First replace your Thermostat, and then have your Electric cooling fan checked.
Try getting a scan at Autozone, Advance, or Oreillys autoparts. They will do it for free. Or if you just want to buy a few parts, observe if the cooling fan even comes on. There are 2 temperature sensors on most Ford's and one makes the dash gauge work and the other makes the Electric cooling fan work. Just have the car a little warm and when you get the dash gauge to move, disconnect the temp sensors one at a time until you find the one that controls the gauge. The remaining sensor controls the cooling fan. Remember, the gauges only work when the engine is running.
If your cooling fan still does not work, ask the parts guys how many speeds your vehicle is suppose to have on its fan. Usually, when the A/C is turned on, high speed kicks in; for sure when you have overheating, it should be on high speed. The Electric cooling fan has a Relay that can be bad. The fan motor can also be bad.
The loss of Antifreeze in the system can be from boil over. As long as the car runs decent, there is no reason to expect a blown head gasket. With the Radiator cap off, you may be able to see bubbles on the surface of the radiator if a head gasket is allowing compression to get into the cooling system.

Hello, on your model the Head sensor sends a signal thru a resistor pak and the ECU. If the fan runs on high speed when you turn on the A/C then the resistor pak is good. If the resistor pak is bad neither of the fans will run when the A/C is on. Change the resistor pak.
If the fan runs on high with the A/C on, then the head sensor is not indicating a high temperature condition when the A/C is off. The A/C switch overides the head sensor. The head sensor is on the Passengers' side of the car above the Alternator. The head sensor is not throwing a signal to start the High speed fan. The head sensor is a long pin screwed into the head at that location.
While you say the fan is working, it may not be working well enough because of the head sensor.
