When your dishwasher door has a problem, check these:

1) Latch: The latch on many dishwashers is adjustable. If your door is easy to close but difficult to latch, adjust the latch to let the door close more easily. If you can't see any way to adjust the latch, yours may be fixed in a certain position. Check for other reasons for the latching problem.

If the latch has worn out in a way that makes it impossible for you to close the door properly, you probably need to replace the latch.

2) Springs: Your dishwasher has two springs that counterbalance the weight of the door. If either or both of these are broken, the door feels quite heavy and you need to replace both springs.

3) Hinges: The hinges are important to the door closing properly. If they're bent or deformed, you probably need to replace them. Once bent, only rarely can they be straightened well enough.

4) Door seal: If your dishwasher is new--or if you have just replaced a door seal--the door may be difficult to latch for a week or two. If the tightness persists, though, try adjusting the latch, if it's adjustable. If it's not adjustable, there's probably nothing you can do immediately. But try running the dishwasher on the highest heat cycle to help the seal conform to the door. Otherwise, the seal should compress over time.

Arm won't retract and door will not close.

hi
here can be two main problems
1) if once you close the door is a continuous click then your problem is the the electric/mechanic lock from top of your dishwasher
2) if once you close the door nothing happening is the switch from inside of the door this one can be tested making a bridge bet-twin the 2 wires are connected to the switch ( please make sure you unplug the dishwasher from mains before you carry any work on it )
once bridge done and dishwasher plug back to the mains the arm will retract in even if you not close the door

Dishwasher door will not close properly

usually d/w doors are fine for long time.
1. check if anything blocks it to close securely e.g. the cutlery basket or the dish racks not fully sliding in or may be off track/chanel.
2. try running a cycle empty and see if it closes after doing #1.

Kitchenaid dishwasher KUDS30IXBL door locked open, will not close

There should be a type of hook inside the hole where the door latches to the machine. Hold the handle up and rotate the hook latch so the open side is pointing towards the machine. The click you heard was the latch that holds the door closed moving to the closed position when the door was open, and it needs to be in the release position.

Dishwasher just emptying

I am at the end of my tether. I have bought a new door latch for my Bosch SGS 43E02 GB45, so door now closes properly and have managed to stop the leak under the front left hand side of the machine. Howver it sounds as if it is constantly emptying. It does not go onto the new wash cycle just keeps pumping out the water. It did run a quick rinse yestreday but now is back to the constant emptying problem. Even when I open the door it still keeps running and staying on a emptying cycle despite there being no visible water left inside the machine. Please help!!

Dishwasher Door Gasket

A new gasket will usually seem too tight, as long as it's the proper gasket and you are sure it is properly in place, this may help. Using a hair dryer, carefully warm the gasket up, don't get it too hot that it deforms. Then close the dishwasher door making sure it latches. Run it through a cycle and use the heated dry option. Leave it closed overnite. This should help, although it may seem a little tough to close for the next few times you run it. It will get better with use.

I had the same problem, so I took the door apart as explaned above, found it was gunged up with residue from the washihg cycles. Gave it a good clean, while the part was disconected of course, and hay presto! the door works like new again.

Dishwasher not starting or emptying

bit difficult to diagnose this but worth while splitting the door and carefully examining the wiring loom where it goes round the corner at the bottom of the door. its quite common to get breakages at this point as it flexes every time you open or close the door
