Can I recover erased pictures from an Ixus 870?

I erased, by mistake, around 400 pictures from a recent out-of-town trip from my Ixus 870 IS. Is there any way to recover the photos from the card after it has been deleted? HELP!

Insert your card into a card reader or connect directly to camera via USB cable. Download and install http://www.undelete-plus.com/files/undelete_plus_setup.exe.

Have this program search the drive letter of your memory card. It should show all of the pictures you have deleted. Highlight all of them and RESTORE THE FILES TO A DIFFERENT DRIVE LETTER like MY DOCUMENTS > MY PICTURES etc etc.

!!!!!DO NO RESTORE TO THE MEMORY CARD!!!!

Hi,

To be really honest, there is a slight hope.

There are certain Software's you might need to purchase to recover the same and it might cost you 40-50 bucks....and that's not a guarantee. You can speak to local canon tech. Usually they do have some tricks to retrieve the data.

Any further help, let me know.

Thanks.

The simple solution is to get a card reader. You plug the memory card in one end and the other end to a USB port on your computer. It shows up as a removable drive in "my computer" or windows explorer offers to open it for you. typrice_5.jpg

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:

Pictures gone!

Take no more pics until you've recovered the photos, take the card out of the camera. Here's some freeware photo recovery software that should be what you're looking for. Recommend the last program listed on this page:

http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/recovering-those-accidentally-lost.html

You will need to use a flash card reader with this software. If you don't have one, get one, they're cheap:

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_st?keywords=card+reader&rs=172282&page=1&rh=n%3A172282%2Ck%3Acard+reader&sort=price

After you've recovered the photos and backed them up on your computer, recommend formatting the card in your camera (note that this will erase all photos on your card). Look for the "Low Level" format option in your camera's menus. A low level format should help prevent this from happening again.
