Check the following to address this issue.

1. Venting
Make sure the dryer vent hose, as well as the rest of the vent duct, is not clogged.

Unless regular maintenance is performed, chances are there is a lot of lint accumulated inside the dryer. This might affect the drying time and could be a fire hazard. Make sure to have your dryer cleaned regularly. Because this might involve taking most of the dryer apart, it is recommended to have a qualified appliance repairman perform this task.

2. Thermostat
There are a couple of cycling thermostats inside the dryer. If one of them breaks down, it might affect the dryer's performance. Replace the defective thermostat.

3. Heating element
A heating element might only be partially burned out, in which case it would still work but will take longer time to dry the clothes. Replace the element if found defective.

Dryer heat not working

Without knowing your problem, I would guess that the heating element has burned out. This is a common issue with many dryers, regardless of brand.

The hearing element in a clothes dryer is like any other heating element, such as in a space heater, heat gun, or hair dryer. It is basically a continuous coil that is held in place by insulators, usually ceramic.

As the element ages, the coil becomes brittle and can often break. When a breakage occurs, the circuit is no longer complete and will not produce heat.

Replacing one is fairly simple.

  1. The first thing that you should do is unplug your dryer.
  2. Once unplugged, remove the exhaust duct.
  3. Use a screwdriver to remove the electric access panel in at the rear of the dryer.
  4. Locate and remove the heating element.
  5. Inspect the element for a break in the coil. The problem is not always obvious so it may be good to do a continuity test on it.
  6. Replace part if necessary. Elements will usually run $20 or so.
  7. Assemble in reverse order and test.

This website has some really great detailed step by step instructions on replacing a heater element.

Good luck.

Trying to check if the heater coil is bad. Is there a resistance across the coils?

Hi,
Yes you should get resistance across the coil...it will vary from coil to coil....

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

I have a Whirlpool Dryer LEQ9508PWO which doesn't heat. Is it the Thermostat? The coils are good.

Read my tips on dryers. The Vent Duct work is always the last thing checked by most. Dryers have sensors that shut off the heat if the vent system is plugged up

heatibg elements cycle on and off at regular intervals, due to thermostats that regulate the dryer temp. for functional and safety reasons.if your dryer is a residential unit being used in a commercial setting, chances are its being overloaded...a dryers most basic functions are: 1.heat 2.turn and 3. evacuate moisture. its either overloaded or a venting problem-nothing else

My dryer does not heat up, I changed the thermal disks but I can not find where the fuses are located, I chequed the wires and they look good, the only other thing is replacing the fuses but I can not...

Check the heating coil itself. It may be a bit of work to see but check for any breaks in the coil. If there are breaks in the coil there will be no heat as the electricity cannot go through. (like a break in a wire)

Light on inside does not work and does not heat

Sounds like your problem may be with the heating coil.
If you plan to try to repair the problem yourself, then the first thing you want to do is unplug the dryer from the electric.
Remove the back of the machine and try to locate the air tube going from the blower to the drum. Normally inside the air tube you will find the heating coil and the thermostats/thermistor.
Once you have located the heating coil, remove the two wires from it and check the coil with an ohm meter across the two terminals of the coil.
You should read continuity across the terminals, if not you will need to replace the coil as it is faulty.
Good Luck,
Hope this helps

Maytag gas dryer wont heat

Since your hot surface ignitor is glowing, that means it is trying to heat, or that all the temp. switches are good and the timer is sending the signal. First check that there is actually gas pressure to the dryer. But the common problem is the coils on the gas valve. There are two, called the booster/holding coil, and the secondary coil. They are purchased as a set (part #279834 / $20.00) if it is the same as my mdg8600aww model. If that doesn't work, then likely the gas valve itself.

Sometimes those coils will open circuit when they warm up, and close when they cool down, giving you an erratic operation symptom.

Most of the time, the culprit is a bad gas valve coil(s). Replace those, and your dryer should return to normal operation.

Intermitten Heat up

make sure that your vent is not plug up can you go outside your house and feel good air coming out the vent when the dryer is turn on if so the only other things it could be is the coils that sit on the ignotor assmebly or the high limit termistat is not working properly the coils are little black circle coils that sit in the ignitor assmly should have a metal braket across the top of them holding them in you can check resistance on these coils if you have an meter
