SOURCE: Computer won't recognize that there are speakers plugged in
The audio device that your system is referring to was the sound card that was installed to your computer. If this error occured after installing Windows Vista then, your sound card might need new drivers to be installed to make the audio work. You can try to download the drivers online for you audio and it will definitely fix this problem.

SOURCE: I AM HAVING ALTEC LANCING
hello waiyasin, this altec lancing don't need a driver, it just plug and play hardware. if there is a problem with the driver, try to install sound driver from your motherboard driver. if u use external sound card, try to install sound driver from the sound card driver. if u have problem how to install the driver then u just need open the device manager. u can find it on control panel. once u open the device manager window, insert motherboard driver (or sound card driver if u use external driver) into CD Rom. in device manager window u will find sound or audio device, right click it and choose update driver then follow the instruction. that's it.
hope this useful, regards.
NB: if u don't have motherboard (or sound card driver) try to goggling it or reply this solution with your motherboard name (or sound card name), maybe i can help to find your driver.
SOURCE: altec lansing mx5021 wired controller not working
Sounds like you might have a wire loose at the other side of the controller. This is a easy thing to find out. Just unscrew the side screws that hold the back board to the cabinet. Don't unscrew the screws connected to the speaker wire clips unless the back doesn't come off. Just look for a disconnected wire at the controller jack then put it back. If there is no loose wire then you might have a bent female contact at the outside of the controller jack. You would have to look for this looking into the holes where you plug the cable into the controller jack. If you see a bent contact then use a thin nail of ice pick and insert it into the hole where the bent connector is to try to re open the contact so the cable can slip into it easy. Don't forget to unplug the power first.
Testimonial: "Thx for the quick answer! it was not a loose wire, infact there were no wire at the back of the controller jack. although when I insert a nail in all the holes one of the holes is not as deep as the others and I cant get the nail all the way down, the hole is to narrow or something. It is just as before, I just have to tilt the controller cable upwards a bit and it works but as soon as I let go the wired controller stops working again.. got any Ideas? I dont know how hard I dare to press the nail into the hole."
