Question about MTX Thunder 6500D Car Audio Amplifier
I have the thunder6500D installed upside down it work for about 4 days then stop working, i have power in the unit no fuses have blown up and sometimes the sound comes back again on its own. the rca wires are new and so all the wires i have used and wend i tap over the unit the sound comes back too by having the amplifier upsidedown i'm creating a problem? what can i do?
Hi, It sounds like your amps thermal shutoff is tripping since when the amp is upside down it can't cool as well as right side up. If you absolutely must mount it the way you have, I would recommend getting yourself a small fan, like a computer fan and mount it to blow on amp when system is on. They draw very little power, so you can just wire to your car's switched power source...but be careful to wire it to amps ground due to noise that can sometimes happen when you ground things at different locations around vehicle. Google "amp fans" or "computer fans" and you should find a good spot to get one. Make sure you get a 12v unit. Let me know if this helps! THanks
