Question about LG LRBC22544 Bottom Freezer Refrigerator

2 Answers

Hi - I have a 2 year old LG, LRBC22544st and it was showing ER FF. I opened up the back panel of the freezer and there were big chunks of ice impeding the fan. I removed the ice and it now runs fine. But, I don't want the problem to occur again so I believe I should replace the defrost sensor (ADC). I want to order the piece and replace it but I don't know where it is located on the fridge. Does anyone know where I can locate the ADC on my fridge? Thanks.

You have mentioned that the unit was showing Er FF .this error is not for faulty defrost sensor. FF ERROR STANDS FOR FREEZER FAN.I WILL GIVE YOU COMPLETE LIST OF ERROR DETAILS FOR YOUR KNOWLEDGE.

:---All Error Codes will have an ER on the left side, followed by the error on the right:Er IF - Icemaker Fan Error - This can be caused by frost accumulation on or around the icemaker fan. Unplug the unit for 3-4 hours to allow this to melt off. If error code persists, call Customer Service.
Er FF - Freezer Fan Error - This can be caused by frost accumulation on or around the freezer fan. Unplug the unit for 3-4 hours to allow this to melt off. If error code persists, call Customer Service.
For remaining error codes, try unplugging the unit for a couple of minutes to reset the unit. If the error code persists, call Customer Service
Er FS - Freezer Sensor Error
Er rS - Refrigerator Sensor Error
Er ds - Defrost Sensor Error
Er dH - Defrost Heater Error
Er CF - Cooling Motor Error
Er CO - Communications Error

SO IF ITS NOT SHOWING ER-ds that means your defrost sensor is completely okay.no need to change it at all.

if the problem is repititive,i mean coming up again n again, then it means that its the defrost heater error.still nothing to do with defrost sensor.
heating coils might have earthened, in that case u will have to get the heater checked by a qualified technician and if necessary replace it too. its a basic problem and wont cost much. nothing much to worry about.

    thanks.

This problem is caused by ice build up in the cold air duct between the freezer section and the refridgerator section. Normally the air is cooled and blown into the freezer. From the freezer a temperature controlled fan draws cold air into the fridge section. To defrost the freezer a defrost heater heats the air going into the freezer to get rid of the frost, then cold air is pumped into the freezer again to keep things frozen. The problem is with the version of Power controller board that LG has installed in their Bottom Freezer Refridgerators. The controller board is allowing the defrost heater to get too hot and it is creating steam which is blown into the freezer. This steam not only causes the freezer to frost up but is sucked into the duct to the fridge section where it freezes and blocks the duct. the BAD controller board is PCB SIECI 703753513308, Part #6871JB1215A. It should be replaced with PCB SIECI 703753513308 Part # 6871JB1215F. I had this problem within a year of buying the fridge. It took 4 weeks to get parts in and they replaced the Controller board with the same part, Part #6871JB1215A. After the repair it still just didn't seem to work right. Guess what, almost exactly 12 months from the repair date it went again. This time the Controller board was replaced with Part # 6871JB1215F. Right away I noticed that the fridge seemed to be working properly. The fridge has been working perfectly for the past 2 years. The defrost heater limiter (sensor), Def SIECI 70375351260, Part #6615JB2005C, was also replaced both times but I think that it may have been damaged by the defroster getting too hot. Mine was fixed under warranty and extended warranty both times, but go after the dealer as it seems to be a manufacturers defect.

My LG display is reading ER FF what does this mean and what can I do to fix it?

Error Code Er FF
This code is not to be confused with the O FF or demo mode error message. The "Er FF" error code indicates a problem with the unit's freezer fan. The freezer fan controls the temperature in the freezer. The source of this error is most likely ice buildup. As with the Er IF error, allowing the unit to thaw should resolve the issue. Contact customer service if the error code continues to be displayed after having thawed the unit.

Hope helps.

ER FF is freezer fan motor failure code. this directs air into the fridge compartment from the freezer room. dead fan=warm fridge.

What does message: Er FF mean?

That means the freezer fan is blocked, you need to order a new High voltage board, the ice has built up enough from not defrosting that it is interfering with the operation of the evaporator fan.

LG refrigerator lrsc26944tt error code ER FF

I'm no major appliance repairman. However, after reading several posts, I investigated the issue further since I received an ER FF on the front panel. I have a LFX25960SW refrigerator. I pulled the top and bottom baskets out, and was able to take the back panel out from inside. There was a solid block of ice built up around both fans and wires. I took a blow dryer and gradually melted the ice around the fans and wires. Then, as I was able, I pulled the remaining ice chunks off of the wires. I put the thing back together and it cleared the message. My wife says no more LG appliances for us. :)

Freezer cold/fridge warm

You have a defrost issue and needs to be serviced by a qualified LG technician.  The freezer fan motor is blocked by a large chunk of ice behind the rear panel of the freezer section.  You will need to remove the rear panel to get access to the fan and get rid of the ice.  This will get your refrigerator working again but this problem will return.  You will need to have your control board replaced.

Take off the back panel and cut the insullation as in the photo and this will never happen again. What happens is the water gets trapped and then ice forms and builds up and causes the blockage.

Error Code ER FF

I had the same problem. I can tell you that simply unplugging the fridge and letting it defrost isn't going to work. You need to get take it apart.

I had the Er FF code about 2 months ago and let the freezer defrost for a couple hours and it started working again. Then two days ago I got the error again. This time I decided to get inside there.

First and foremost, UNPLUG the fridge and TURN OFF the water!

Next empty everything out of the freezer and start taking it apart. You have to get everything out of it to get that back panel off. This includes the ice maker and the rails that the drawers slide on.

Now that the freezer is completely empty there are two screws that hole the back panel on. In my freezer one is a white screw high in the center and one was a gold screw in the little panel that the ice maker hooked up to.

Next grab the back panel by the little fins on the top of it in the middle. Give it a good firm pull, but take care not to yank it too far... it's still connected by wires back there. When I pulled my panel out I found a HUGE chunk of ice on the top of the panel just to the right of the fan that feeds cold are to the fridge. Get that thing off of there taking care not to damage the foam insulation and watch those shiny metal fins that are behind the panel.

While you're putting it back together try to dry everything off as much as possible (I tried see the bright side of the whole evolution and realized I could really clean my freezer).

Once it's all put back together plug that baby in, turn on the water, and enjoy the next four hours as it gets back to being cold.

I'd say you need moderate tinkering skill to do this. If you only own one screwdriver and you never use it you should probably call someone.

Hope this helps!
