Today I bought the Philips SHM3300 headset + mic; on trying to use it with my Vista system the headphones worked perfectly well but the microphone isn't being recognised at all. There were no CDs/DVDs in the box to indicate driver software and searching the internet I have seen nothing to say I should have any such thing. Is this an issue of incompatibility with my system, some sort of glitch, or are there really drivers I was meant to get?

The Z11 has a four-pole input/output plug to connect the mic and the earphone. The earphone needs to be connected to the earphone jack and the mic needs to be connected to the mic input jack on the back of the computer. In other words, you should have to 3.5 mm plugs. Plugging both into the same jack will disconnect one or the other. Check your adapter, It should have two separate 3.5mm plugs. If it does, be sure they are connected to the right jacks on the computer. The headphone jack will have a headphone symbol; the mic jack will have a microphone symbol. Go to System Preferences, Sound. Select the line in preference for input and the line out preference for headphones. Just may work.
I for 1 don't know. But try to go to www.Turtle Beach.com they can help you out. I have Turtle Beach Ear Force XC1 and my mic I can talk but I can't hear anything but if your mic isn't working properly try using a different controller. If that doesn't help try getting a brand new mic.
Just had the same problem occur on a laptop with same mic. Did the exact same thing yours did, I turned the mic boost on and ran the hardware test three or four times and it finally picked it up. Hope this helps.
