Hi it may be because of three problems,
1,thermostat
2.any circuit damage because of high voltage
3 or the compressor may be in the condition of dying...

there will be no problem of door switch..because if door switch is not working then the whole freezer will not work but u said "the light bulbs are like flasing and makes like a squeaking sound and digital controls show nothing"

so it must be the three problems i said to u,,,
u need a tech to repair it,,,
thank u........

Please see in THIS diagram that part # 8 is your door switch.
If the lights are not coming on inside - this is the faulty part.

If the door switch fails in the closed position - the digital display will never light up - as it turns off when the door shuts.

Thanks for using FixYa!!

Since you mentioned that the right side is cool but no light, meaning that the right side of the fridge is still working. You just need to perform some test to isolate the problem:

1. Change the bulb.

2. Check the circuit board - there is one model that has some sort of circuit board that transmits a signal to tell the lightbulb to come on when the door opens. He said that the other model doesn't have the circuit board and he would think that it might be a bad switch in the door that tells the light to come on when the door opens. If its the circuit board model, that sounds like it could be expensive to repair.

Hope it helps and have a great day!

Hi balaj,

this is a clear thermostat problem on the unit. you can have this replaced for free if it is under warranty. this may also include an issue with the control board but most likely the thermostat.

thermostat is located right under the digital control / display. black square attached to around 12 wires.

regards,

voodoo

There is most likely a problem in the wiring harness to the controls, they break from the thousands of times the door is opened and closed, trplace the harness to the display. for parts and more help go to this link.

How do I fix the freezer light in my Whirlpool side-by-side/freezer on bottom fridge?

first make sure the light bulb works for sure. then most likely it is the door switch. easy to replace. pull out, disconnect and replace. while you are at it, touch the two wires together and make sure the light goes on so you know it is the switch.

your  problem on this is the main control in the compressor compartment. unplug your refrig then remove this control unplug all connectors and reconnect. this will probably get you working temporarily In almost every case I've seen we ended up replacing the control board. thx peyton

What is sounds like is somehow either the water delievery system is clogged or frozen. If your getting water out of the door, then it is probably frozen. If you are able to turn off the freezer for a bit, that would be an easy way to see if that is the problem without having to deal with Whirlpool or a handyman.
