If you have Windows XP you an try going in to safe mode. press F8 at the startup screen and then try getting in with the account administrator with no password.

I did too with window 7 starter and could not find the answer. So I tried a few things and successfully started my asus on safe mode. There I had no trouble to put my pw in the field (Before it said "password" and would not take any input from the K board. I restarted the eeepc and it's ok now Hmm I hope it's not going to be a frequent situation.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

I locked myself out of my laptop at the startup menu how do i reset the password

If you've forgot your login you could try the guest account. The username is 'Guest' (without the quotes) and there is no password. If that doesn't work then you may need to use Kon-Boot. Its pretty advanced but here is a tutorial. http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/konboot-computer-prank-passwordbypass-tool/
The tutorial explains it as a prank but its a really useful program for when you forget your password.

I have a Lenovo A3 series all in one desktop computer and it is not recognizing my password and I am locked out. I put myself on as administrator and the computer was turned off before I backed up the...

first make sure the caps lock if off/on whatever applies the password when you typed it in

Remove a small coin sized CMOS battery to store all BIOS settings along with the password. To reset the password, unplug the PC, open the cabinet and remove the CMOS battery for approx. 15-30 minutes and then put it back. It'll reset all BIOS settings

as well as the password and you'll need to re-enter all settings.

Under the keyboard or bottom of laptop - If you are working on a laptop computerthe location of the dipswitch (almost never a jumper) can be under the keyboard or on the bottom of the laptop in a compartment such as the memory compartment.

If it fails, then try to remove the battery for at least one hour.

click start control panel Open User Accounts in Control Panel. On the Users tab, click the name of the user whose password you want to change, and then click Reset Password. In New password and Confirm new password, type the new password, and then click OK. Notes You can change passwords only for local computer accounts, such as guest, administrator, or accounts you create for your computer. You cannot change your network logon password in User Accounts. To change your own password, press CTRL ALT DELETE and then click Change Password

hope this helps

Are you talking about BIOS password or windows log on password lock?
Please be more clear, but DO NOT REINSTALL THE OPERATING SYSTEM unless you have all the drivers and all your files backup first!
What operating system are you running?
