Question about GE 13GP243 TV
I have a 15 year old Toshiba TV. The problem began with a horizontal line across the bottom of the picture. Then, on occasions, the picture would go completely blank with a black screen as if it had been turned off (although this only happened to the digital Sky picture; terrestrial was ok). Shortly after, the Sky picture would return. Then what I believe to be vertical sweep problems occurred: the picture would compress, be ok for a while, compress again and so on. I tried to turn the tv on today but all that happens is a flashing green light directly underneath the red standby light. Interestingly, with the tv turned off by the remote control and with the tv in standby, the green light flashes slowly. If I turn the tv on with the remote control, the green light flashes more quickly. I have no picture at all. Do I need to scrap it? It is a great tv and has fabulous sound.
Check and replace damaged component/s at its horizontal scan output section circuit. Check the LOT (Line Output Transformer) too for damage. Replace the horizontal scan output transistor. Check the input voltage to LOT. If the voltage is absent check the feeder resistor; if any. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts.

This is due to vertical section failure. Change the vertical supply rectifier diode and supply filters. Then check zener diode leakage in pumpup circuit section. Also check any electrolytic capacitors leakage in vertical section. If it is old model tv change vertical height, vertical lenearity presets also. I hope given details useful to you.

your problem is called blooming as you might be aware of very high voltage in tv. you can check 1 high output voltage fron power supply. 2 if it is ok then the problem is in horizontal section.you can check cap.in hor. section at last flyback transformer. hope this will help.
