When i pull the triger it seems like something is stuck in the head of the gun and the nail will not shoot out. i removed all the nails and made sure that it was loaded right but still no go. also when i pull the triger air comes out the top of the gun.

Re: air leaks not the problem
Sounds like the piston or the head valve is stuck. Open up the back with an allen wrench. Look it over really well. Clean it out with some WD40 after you pop out the head valve and take out the piston and cylinder. You're probably gonna need a kit with seals and o-rings. There is also a bumper (towards the front of the gun that seats inside the cylinder, make sure everything looks good and not dry-rotted or dirty. Lemme know. Please rate me

Shooting continusously caused by worn orings in the trigger valve and in the gun.Dewalt framing nailers use some vinyl orings (gold or clear in color) that fail too soon in both the trigger and the cylinder spacer (white plastic). Air out the nose of gun indicates air is leaking past the cylinder spacer seals (If piston is pushed down with air leak then headvalve seal is leaking (remove nails for this test)). If piston is not pushed down with leak, remove head and pull out the cylinder with cylinder spacer (white plastic). Place the cylinder on workbench with bottom up. Push down on locking ring and remove retainer to release all the other parts. Take picture or take note of parts together and as you pull them off to aid in re-assembly. You will need to replace the two orings between the white cylinder spacer and the cylinder. Order oring kit from dewalt or just purchase one ( # 141 universal oring ) and one metric oring 74.4mm x 3.1mm from hydraulic parts store. If the piston was pushed down with air leak, replace headvalve orings in the head. The trigger valve also has vinyl orings on the trigger pin. You could try replacing the orings but hard to find . Pin uses 2mm x 1.5mm. The orings on the inner valve should fit snuggly on the outer contact surface. If the valve just falls out the the body, the orings are too loose or the body is worn. I would just replace the trigger valve to be safe, however repaired works ok if you can find the orings. Trigger orings do not come in the kit. I would also remove the nails after each use and only reinstall them after air is connected and gun seems to work as it should. The Good luck with your repair.
I don't have that same model but my gun started doing something similar a while back. I was able to disassemble the head of the gun and found that the hammer or piston that drives the nail had rounded itself off and wasn't able to make good contact with the nail head. Instead it pushed itself on top of the nail and got wedged. It's nearly impossible to see the stuck nail or dulled piston head without taking it apart. Hopefully this will help.
If no air is leaking from the gun, take out the nails, remove trigger by removing 3mm hex head bolt to expose the trigger pin. With air connected and side door open so that you can see the feeder, quickly depress the trigger pin with finger. Gun should fire. If gun does not fire (only makes air sound at trigger) dissconnect airline, remove head and lube headvalve with white grease and reinstall. Test again. If ok replace trigger. If still no joy, replace trigger valve with new factory or generic (part # TVA6). If gun fires but does not activate the feeder claw, remove two 6mm hex bolts from front of gun and split apart upper and lower body and check white oring (part # 149885) Good luck
Worn orings always results in leaks/low power. On some nailers, better to replace whole trigger valve as seperate orings (very small) are hard to find and usually not in repair kit. Low power is usually worn driver oring. Easy test, remove nails and point nailer up then down again. If the driver seems to move up and down within the cylinder, time to replace oring/s. Look for repair/tune up kit that contains all the orings in the gun.
Simple test for piston jam. With nails removed and latch open, point nose of gun up then down. If the driver slides up and down in the cylinder as you move the gun, replace the piston oring (test gun for proper operation). If the piston stays in the upper most position as you move gun (push driver to top position), check lower bumper and bottom seal under the bumper (sheet). Replace as needed. If the lower parts are in good condition (good piston oring, lower bumper and sheet) , replace the 3 orings on the feeder piston. Good luck
When you took it apart to clean it, you may have piched off the large brown o-ring on the head valve. To check this, take the orange head valve cover off and push the gun downard onto a piece of wood as if firing it. Watch the o-ring to see if it clears all the metal fingers around the fan.
Not sure exactly what Bostitch framer model you have, but if it is powered by compressed air, as long as you remove the air hose from the nail gun, there should be no risk of the nail gun firing while you remove the jammed nail. There should be a way to access the driver area from the top of the nail gun, even via a latch or a couple screws. Remove the top part of the driver area and that should give you access to the jammed nail, which you can remove. Use long nose pliers or something similar if the nails are really stuck.
