Is their a way to ping a device from a Spectrum 24 Access point unit?

.....I was able to do some research and found out that it's possible. You just have to know the mac address of the unit your trying to ping.

It's in the Show Mobile Units screen from the Main Menu.

    Thanks for your help.

Hello Tanya

To ping a device you will need to know its IP address and not its MAC address. If you know its IP address, you can (assuming you're running Windows):

  1. Start > Run (or for Vista just do the following step)
  2. Type in CMD and click OK (for Vista click CMD)
  3. Type in ping [IP Address here] (for example: ping 192.168.1.5)
  4. Press enter and you'll receive results back on the ping being successful or failed
Best regards

No, you can only be able to reboot the unit and initialize the Spec-24

I can't ***** my USRobotics Router after i reset

The model number you provided is not a router, it is an access point. As such, it doesn't have its own native IP address, it gets one via DHCP when you connect it to your network.

You should have received a setup disk with the access point that has a configuration utility. If you don't have the disk any more, you find the utility online at http://www.usr.com/support/product-template.asp?prod=5451. Use this to regain access.

Otherwise, you can login to your current main ROUTER and check the DHCP table to see which IP addresses have been assigned. You should be able to tell which one was assigned to the access point. If you cannot figure out which one is which, just PING each one successively, and the results will give you NAME of the device you are pinging.

Gateway not pinging from dwl 3200 ap . AP=192.168.4.250/24 in the same subnet, gateway=192.168.4.1 , gateway assign also on wireless adapter , wireless adapter address also in the same subnet with right...

Remove the cables from the gateway router to the switch to leave only the uplink cable or connection to your telephone socket.
Test connectivity by plugging your laptop or computer directly in to the gateway router and test web access using an Ethernet cable.
Your laptop /computer may need to be rebooted for new ip. If ok reattach the unmanaged switch a retry by attaching the Ethernet cable to one of the ports on the switch. If ok, this limits the problem to the access point.
The main problem is that you have two layer 3 devices connected together by a layer 2 switch.
The solution would be to retain the configuration on the gateway if all ok. Change the access point to a different sub net and SSID to the gateway router.
If you can shut down the broadcasting from the gateway as all WLAN will be done through the access point.
Ensure that DHCP and DNS is switched on, on the gateway router.
All computers should be configured to use the gateway router address as this will allow the gateway to provide routing across the network.

2.4GHz cordless phone interference with my laptop

The 2.4 spectrum only has 3 channels that don't overlap. There are a total of 14 channels in all. Channels 1,6,11 don't overlap with other devices. Set your wireless access point to 6 (strongest channel) and your phone to another non-overlapping channel (1, 11). That should solve your problem. If it does not, then one of the devices you have is not digitally tuned and is causing interference on neighboring channels. The proximity of the phone's base station in relation to the wireless access point or laptop can also have an effect especially if the spectrum is dirty. Hope this helps!

you did not specify where the wap is connected when you pinged it. Try this, connect the wap54g to your pc. Assign static ip 192.168.1.5 on the lan of the pc, then ping 192.168.1.245. if you can ping you should be able to access the configuration page. if the power is still blinking you can upgrade the firmware
