Verify first if the ip address of your router is by going to start>run>type CMD>hit OK. On the command prompt, type ipconfig/all. Look for the ip address, make sure it is not on the 169.254.x.x range. Make sure it is on the 192.168.x.x, 172.16.x.x or 10.x.x.x range. What ever is on the default gateway, that is the ip address that you need to open on your browser. the address is not on the 192.168.x.x, 172.16.x.x or 10.x.x.x range, make sure you the physical connection checked first (modem goes to internet or WAN port and pc goes to LAN port) or if the connection is correct, you may wanna try turning off/on the router.

How do I access my router? I type in and all I get is search results not the router itself. I have been able to do this in the past. Thanks

I understand that you are unable to access the configuration page of the router WGR614. Please perform the below task on your computer connected to the router:

A. Click on Start then go to Programs and go to Accessories and open Command Prompt.
B. In Command Prompt window, type in 'ipconfig' and press 'Enter'. Note down the IP Address, Subnet mask & Default Gateway here.

Please try to access the configuration page of the router using the address that you got in the 'Default Gateway'.

Hope this allows you to resolve the issue. Please revert back for any further clarification.

Having trouble accessing router's setup page?

Note: If you cannot access the router's page, check the computer if it's getting a valid IP address from the router. Click Start then type CMD on the Search box then press Enter. A black window called Command Prompt will appear, just type IPCONFIG then press Enter. It will display the IP address.
- Scenario 1. If the IP address starts with 169.x.x.x --- not getting IP from router
  • Scenario 2. If the IP address starts with 192.168.1.x --- getting IP from router
  • For scenario 2, since the computer is getting IP from the router, try to PING the router to test connectivity. Open the Command Prompt again, type PING then press Enter. If you see the word reply 4 times then it means the computer is communicating with the router.
  • Clear the cache, cookies and history of your Internet Browser then try to access the router page again.

When I try and go onto the web browser it says "The system memory is damaged." When I test the connection settings it goes red then green then back to red and I get an error code: 052200-1.

hi there,
this error code indicates that there is a problem with your firewall settings on your router not allowing your dsi to connect to the internet, while your dsi can connect to your router it's not allowing it to access the internet. The best way to get to the firewall settings is to find out your router ip address. most routers have the ip, but to be sure from a pc click on start, in the search field enter cmd, and open up command prompt. in here type "ipconfig" and this should bring you up your computer ip and your routers, the router been the "default gateway" so whatever number is after the default gateway type this into your browser to access your routers settings. you may need to contact nintendo or your isp provider to help you change the settings here to allow your dsi to access the internet. The default port number the dsi uses is 8080, so perhaps your router is blocking this port number for some reason, and you need to unblock it. Hope this helps and best of luck with it.

The wireless sign on my router is not lit up blue like the rest of them. I can still use the internet, just not wireless

follow the steps below you are looking for the tab wireless and you want to enable it will ask you if you want wep or other options pick your security and dont forget the key you may have to reset the router by pushing the button on the back

To open the set up page of the router of the router , one of your computer should be able to go online through the router.
It could be a wired computer or wireless computer.
If it is a wireless computer then make sure that the computer is connected to your own wireless network.
Do not change any wireless settings on the router using a wireless computer.
OK ! Now you have a computer online through the router and you want to open the set up page of the router.

First step is check the IP address of the computer.
Check the IP address and the Default gateway on the computer.

For Windows XP

START ==> RUN ==> type in cmd in the RUN box==> click OK or Hit ENTER . You will see a black window that is a command prompt . In the black window type in " ipconfig " ==> and Hit ENTER on your key board .

For Windows Vista and Windows 7

click on START ==> type in cmd in the start search box ==> enter ==> you will see the black window. Type in " ipconfig "you will see a lot of information. Try to find out the local area connection IPv4 address .

Note down the Default gateway number.

Click APPLE icon in the right top corner of the computer. Go to System Preferences ==> go to Network ==> you will find the option Built in Ethernet or Airport whichever is connected. If you go to that you will find the Ip address and router Address.

The default gateway is the IP address of your router.

This IP address of the router will be used to open the set up page of the router

Now you got the IP address of the router.Open the Internet Browser ( Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari )

In the Address bar of the browser Type the IP address of the router.

Do not type http:// or www just type in the IP address only.

It will ask you for the user name and the password of the router.

This is the User name and the password of the router and NOT the wireless password. On a wireless router, there are 2 passwords. One is to access the router and the other one is for the wireless network.

For most of the routers the default password will be " admin " . for some routers the default password is " password ". For Linksys router the default password is admin and no user name.

How do I find my password for my netgear

You can access the router by opening Internet explorer and in the address window type
This will bring up the router's web page
login (if you haven't changed it is ) admin
password is either password or 1234 ( again if you haven't changed it )
You can navigate the different pages until you find it (usually on the 2nd page)
You may need to just change it. If you DID change it and can't remember you need to restore teh router to factory default and reconfigure it
To reset the router unplug it, press and hold the reset button on the back of the router and plug it in... still holding the reset button for 20 seconds. release thereset button and allow the router to reboot.

You should then be able to get into the router using the above credentials

I cant get continous interenet from my linksys router, it would connect, then be intermittent.. the next page id go to would say cant connect.. or something like that.. id refresh like 20 times and finally...

In my experience this uaully means the router is toast and its time to buy a new one, but I will give you a few ideas to try before you junk your router.

First I would attempt resetting this router to factory defaults by pressing holding the small button located on the back of the router, you can access the button with a small pin of sort where the button is very small. You will have to reconfigure your router once this is done, but it should work right away unless you are using DSL, you will need to put your ISP account info in the router.

You can access your router by running a ipconfig command in the command prompt.

To access your command prompt in Windows 7/Vista just go to the search bar and type cmd and press enter.

To access your command prompt in windows xp go Start>All Programs>Accessories>Command Prompt.

Once you have the box up type ipconfig, you should get similar to these results:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : workgroup
IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . :
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . :
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : Your Routers IP

You can see where I have bolded Your Routers IP, that line should be your routers IP address that you type in your internet browsers address bar.

This will bring up your routers configuration page where you can do your configurations.

I hope this helps, thanks for using Fixya!

I have problem setting up my wireless network and redirecting my wireless client to my local webpages before they can access to internet.   see this diagram below :...

you need to replace your modem with a router that is capable of running Network Address Translation. You are trying to route private IP's (192,168.x.x) over the public IP (internet) network.

Cant connect to xbox live

First thing you want to do is make sure that the router isn't blocking the 360's MAC address, the best way to do this is to open up your internet browser and type into the address bar which will bring up the Belkin router settings and then check any blocked access attempts in the wireless security section. If it isn't blocking it then you can change the port options in one of the other wireless options on the settings page.
