It is a 15 amps motor and will need 6 times (90) that amount of amps to start up. Plugging it into a 15 amps circuit may work but a 20 amps circuit is more apropiate. Kitchen circuits are 20 amp circuits.
You can try plugging the compressor directly into the wall and see if it refills with air without trippiing the circuit breaker. Using an extension cord should be done with a #12 or #10 wire gage type, smaller type will cause a power loss in the cord and will cause the compressor motor to trip the circuit breaker.
Power formula is I square R, or the amps multiplied by itself and by the resistance of the wire. E.G. 90x90x4 = 3200 watts. This is at start up. To find the voltage drop divide the watts by current, 3200/90 = .... get the point? Keep voltage drops to a minimum, use heavy wire gage extension cords.

it should never be plugged into any type of extension cord and also on its own dedicated circuit(nothing else on that circuit),you probably ruined the ptc overload relay mounted on the compressor(if your lucky) and not the compressor itself,this component is very inexpensive compared to a new compressor and labor to install it
It's drawing too much power through the strip and tripping the safety on it. Use a short extnsion cord on it(not the houhold style with the 3-way on it) the next size up gauge wire. Ask your local electrical supplier. they can help. Probably the longer you have the microwave on it when this happens?
Start at the power cord where it plugs into the wall, following down to where it enters the back of the refrigerator and look for any crimped or smashed places that may indicate the hot has come into contact with the ground (center wire.).
From there, you'll need to have basic trouble shooting skills to determine where the short circuit is. It could be the condenser fan, the evap fan, the compressor, or any number of other things.
simple stuff, you have a compressor a stat and power. check the receptacle to be sure you have 120 volts . then check the compressor with stat at max cold setting to see if you have 120 volts at compressor. if you do then compresssor is bad =new compressor or new unit. if no power to compressor then stat is bad= new stat. i always recomend new unit cause new stat or compressor wont fix a freon leak.... i have replaced a few compressors that died soon after due to a freon leak. good luck...
let fridge cool down it sounds like the relay overload is bad try replacing it with a 3 n 1 start kit directions on the kit real easy to hook up... if the compressor starts then you are ok... hopefully the compressor is not burned out good luck
