On SHR-1040 Is there a way (lacking for the moment an RCA cable to go to the TV) to reboot so as to come up on the VGA?

When I connect an analog TV to the Video out, I get a display. However, I don't seem to be able to break the default setting & get the SHR-1040 to boot up & display when connected to a vga monitor.

Hold down the mode and channel one button at the same time. This should light up all for lights at the top right and reboot the system. If they don't light up something is probably wrong with it.

My shr-1040 is set in the vga mode. I can not get in to menue on the monitor to change it back to vbvs. How can I do this without being able to see anything on the monitor. Thanks Bill Theiss

The least disruptive method is quickly substitute an available old computer monitor to the vga output at the back and view the menu to make the settings change you want.. or any flatscreen monitor you may be able to borrow/use for a few minutes. These both have vga inputs, but old tv's do not.

You have to hook it up to a tv monitor and change the settings through the menu. It will originally include a password just to get you on, then you will immediately have to change it. After you do that you can access the menu where you can change the output settings

"PTZ" button on the left for 5 seconds, Keep pressing both the "MODE" button
and the "PTZ" button on the left for 5 seconds. The password default is "4321".

Connecting the recorder to the security system

If you are hooking your cameras into the SMO-151qn then you can use the pigtail cable to connect to the Shr-1040. Make sure the video out from the SMO-151qn goes into the video in of the Shr-1040. If there is a choice use CH1. On the Shr-1040 hold down the mode button and press CH2 for about 10 seconds. The Shr-1040 should reboot. Once it comes up press the record button. After recording for a feww minutes stop the recording. On the SMO-151qn press the button on the front Live/Vcr. You should see the screen from your Shr-1040. IF you hit play you should see what you recorded. Good Luck!
