HI. this is a failed timer mechanism. replacing this failed timer control module will restore normal functions.

The timer is designed to rotate, via the timer motor. if this mechanism is defective or, not rotating this timer mech, this will render the timer useless. the timer has failed.

Have a Intermatic Water heatr timer connected to our water heater (obviously)... yesterday we drained and repostioned the w/h in order to place a drain pan under it. Now...no hot water. Believe we may have...

Timer is not identified.

By-pass WH40 and T100 series mechanical timer by removing trippers from dial and moving override lever to ON position.
How to troubleshoot mechanical timer:

Water heater is electric since Intermatic does not make gas water heater timers.
Electric water heater must be completely full of water before turning on circuit breaker, or elements will instantly burn out.

Once timer checks out, you need to check circuit going to water heater.
Water heater might be the problem.
Remove trippers from timer dial and set override lever to ON.

The timer won't stop. The pump is running continuously

Possible fault in the timer. remove and check the timer , see if there is slippage of the stepper motor causing it not to move and be stuck into the same position thereby activating the pump .
If not you will need to replace the timer.

Our coleman fireplace insert starts to warm and then shorts out

Not sure if you have an electric fireplace or a gas fireplace. But, from the way you worded the description of your problem, I'm going to assume that it's electric. I'm also assuming that all the other features of the fireplace work, but the heater doesn' t. If that is the case, below is what the Owners Manual recommends doing.

5. Flame effect operates, but heater does not blow warm air

The TEMPERATURE button is a thermostat control for the heater. Each preset temperature setting has a different thermostat setting as shown to the right:

The heater will NOT activate if the room temperature is above the thermostat setting. If the ambient room temperature is 78° F the user will need to select Setting 3 in order for the heater to be activated. It is normal in warmer climates and in rooms with higher ambient temperatures for the heater to not activate on the lower settings due to the thermostat control. 5a. Try increasing the temperature setting. See drawing:

temp-control-fig.jpg 6. If unit heater does not function, but Power and Heater switches are in the "ON" position and thermostat is set on "HI" 6a. Turn all switches to the "OFF" position and unplug the unit from the wall outlet for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes plug the unit back into the wall outlet, and operate as normal.

How can I program my Leviton timer model 6651-I?

Leviton 6651 Manual.
http://waterheatertimer.org/pdf/Leviton-6651-manual.pdf
Timer requires a battery which should be replaced each 12 to 18 months.
Timer replaces single-pole or 3-way switch, and does not need a separate neutral wire.
Timer is for incandescent lights only.
500 Watt capacity
Push the door for manual override to reverse program that is in effect.

The 14 hour timing period is represented by 24 dip switches.
Each dip switch is positioned for ON or OFF.

Click the dip switch right or left
Start at the bottom
For example: ON for 3 hours, OFF for 4 hours, ON again for 3 hours:
Click dip switches 1 thru 3 to ON position, 4 thru 7 to OFF position, 8 thru 10 to ON position
ON position is to the right.
OFF position is to the left.

At the end of the 14 hour program, the timer turns lights OFF until the original start time is reached after 24 hours.
Timer will operate like this while in AUTO mode, until function switch is moved from AUTO to MAN or OFF modes.
Function switch is located at very bottom of timer door.
To activate program (on first day), function switch is set to OFF position for 2 seconds, and then move function switch to AUTO mode, and programming cycle begins.

Pump runs 5 minutes and stops

Move the slide switch to ON.
Open following link for recirculation system resources.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Water-heater-recirculation-system.html

The recirculation can work on either the timer or the thermostat using slide switch located next to the timer dial.
First of all, look to see if dial is rotating as time passes.
Next look at position of slide switch. If switch is moved to 'timer,' then the timer controls the on-off function for pump.
Move the pins located on timer dial to control on-off times.
If the switch is moved to ON, then the thermostat controls the pump, and turns on until temperature in pipe reaches 94 or 100 degrees F approximately. I forget exact cutoff temp.

Timer clock only runs when in on position

That's because the timer is mis-wired. The incoming wires from the circuit breaker _must_ be connected to terminals 1 and 3. The out going wires to the water heater must be connected to terminals 2 and 4.

The clock timer motor is connected internally to terminals 1 and 3, so it won't work if the incoming (always hot) wires are connected to terminals 2 and 4 (until you close the contacts by moving the manual lever to the ON position)

Freezer is frosting up

It is probably your defrost timer. Best way to test it is first locate it. It should be in the refrigerator section near the controls. Remove the cover around controls. Look for a hole with a round plastic nub that has a slot that a regular small screwdriver will fit into. It should only turn one way (clockwise I think). with the compressor running you can manually turn the timer control till it shuts off the compressor. That should activate the defrost heater. in about an hour check to see if the frost is gone. Also listen and see if the compressor will operate and note if the timer has turned from where you set it manually. If it has not moved and the fridge did defrost your defrost timer is bad. If the timer moved it may have been stuck or may not be the problem. You can also test the thermostat and the defrost heating element(s). They are deeper in the freezer in the cooling coils (Evaporater). 3 main parts to the defrost, timer, heater, and thermostat. All are avalible online.

Auto defrost not working on fridge freezer

Your defrost is on a timer and every so often it clicks and sends electricity to defrost heater and activates. It shuts everything else down. Manually advance the timer with small screwdriver to see if it activates. If not your timer is bad. Another way to tell is to put a mark on your timer and then come back later and see if it has moved.
