Phillips GoGear 4Gb - Can't sync songs onto player...

I bought a Phillips GoGear 4GB  three weeks ago and have downloaded about 500 songs onto it. Today I was syncing 40 songs from Windows Media Player and it stopped all of a sudden with 7 songs left. I tried to start the sync again and got an error, something to the affect of your device is operating slowly, cannot sync until the device responds, try disconnecting from com., try resetting, etc. I disconnected, then reset, still the same thing. It still has 1.6GB remaining, anyone know what I could do to fix this problem. Should I repair through the device manager and lose all files, or is there something else I should do. Any help greatly appreciated.

I also bought a Phillips GoGear 4GB about a month ago and have downloaded about 447 songs onto it. The other day was syncing 30 songs from Windows Media Player and it stopped all of a sudden with 27 songs left. I tried to start the sync again and got an error, something to the affect of your device is operating slowly, cannot sync until the device responds, try disconnecting from com., try resetting, etc. I disconnected, then reset, still the same thing. It still has 1.3GB remaining, anyone know what I could do to fix this problem. Should I repair through the device manager and lose all files, or is there something else I should do. Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the help, or not. How bout this dumb @ss, if you want music on your mp3 player, last time i checked you gotta sync it on there, since mp3 files don't have legs i don't think it's gonna magically jump from the computer to the player. So thanks for the helpful solution, next time just keep your fu**ing mouth shut, that would be more helpful than anything.

Giday, Im talking about a Phillips GoGear 4GB, I lost the album art on it,It froze once before I lost it, but reloading the Cds or even going from my libary wont allow album art to be reloaded.

It also seemed to slow down one one song to the next and when pressing play, I have only about 6 albums on it so its not short of memory

This is only a makeshift solution.
I use a philips gogear sa52xx and found out, that deleting the drivers, then reconnecting the Player and pressing F5 in the explorer allows me to normally access the philips gogear sa52xx for about 30 seconds. After that, out of nowhere the drivers will sever and the Code 10 error appears. So, another disconnect - deinstall of the driver - reconnect - F5 in the explorer until the Player appears and then sync. The proplem is, that this works best (maybe only) with mp3 files...
So convert your music files into mp3 first, than do above steps for drag 'n' drop.
Usually, you need to do the whole procedure 2 times for a CD, sometimes 3.

I also have a the 4gb phillips. it was always kinda hit or miss when i plugged it into the usb port on my computer but it would usually show up after a few tries. recently however, the device will not even show up on the device drivers menu when it is plugged into the computer. nonetheless, i am unable to sync the device to windows media player. i know the computer is picking it up though, as it appears in add hardware wizard's list of connected hardware. in that list, the device shows up with a yellow icon next to it. the device says it has failed due to a code 10 error. troubleshooter explains a senario somewhat like mine which would require downloading a vista software update. unfortunately, i am running XP and am unsure of the compatibility. so i guess my question is, what is a code 10 error; is it correctable; and if not, is the windows vista update compatable with the xp software?

Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

SOURCE: Phillips GoGear 4Gb - Can't sync songs onto player anymore.

Software can be found by going to:
www.usasupport.philips.com
Enter your model number
On the next page, click on your exact model number without the "B" on the end
On the next page, click on "software and drivers"

Make sure you back up all songs on the GoGear before attempting this solution.

1) Back up all files on the GoGear
2) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips)
3) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button
4) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new

Now you can do the firmware upgrade that will prevent this problem from occuring in the future. Open up Philips Device Manager and click the Update tab. This problem was caused because most GoGear's were designed for Windows XP with Media Player 10 (which is no longer the latest standard).

Try resetting the MP3 player: locate the little reset hole (it is quite small) and give it a poke with something blunt like a unraveled paper clip.

MP3 formating

Here's what you want to do. Use Windows Media Player to re-Rip the CD's in Mp3 format. Go to Windows Media Player 11 --> Rip --> Rip Options --> Format --> Mp3 (you can get to Rip options by moving the mouse over the Rip tab, and a small black arrow will appear - click on the arrow).

Once the songs are in true mp3 format, you can then use the Sync tab in Windows Media Player to transfer the songs.

Unfortunately, many of the newer Philips players do not recognize DRM-encryption, which is why the songs would have worked in one player and not this one.

Or:

You have to get Rhapsody's Mp3 only service - I repeat, MP3 ONLY. No other level of Rhapsody service will work with the newer Philips' GoGear's - which is funny, b/c Philips co-branded with Rhapsody on the newer players. Rhapsody is not your only choice, but you must ensure that the files you are downloading are in Mp3 format.

Make sure that there is available memory. If there is, then you will need to do a firmware upgrade and reload the songs onto the player. If you already have the latest firmware, then you will need to reformat the player either in Windows Media Player or the computer. If that fails, use the repair function in the Philips Device Manager.
