I need to restore my computer but I did not download the recovery program on a disc. Is there a way of recovering the program without the recovery discs

If there is a D partition on your device, you can restore the computer to its original condition by invoking the Recover option. Click Start, all programs, search, type in Recover and follow the directions.

Brought acer travel mate back to factory using recovery discs now it wont reboot.I put discs back through with no result

Check the bios settings, in boot settings you must set CD unit as first boot device, then you start PC with recovery disk 1 inside.

Reformatting a drive

The BIOS has nothing to do with reformatting a drive.
If you are doing a system recovery, placing the recovery disks in the CD/DVD will do the job for you. You just must boot from the first recovery disk or, in some computers, choose the recovery option at startup--this uses a recovery partition on the hard drive to do the recovery for you.

What buttons do u press to format an acer desktop

Well i mi8ght be wrong on thid one, but i am going to go out on a limb and say None. If you want to restore to factory original you will have to go into the recovery system and see restore point from way back when you first got the computer, otherwise you need the recovery disks from acer if that model came with them, then you will have to format the drive and reinstall all the programs including the operating system. Hope this helps.

Restore to factory default

Most Acer M1640's can be restored to factory settings using the following method:

1. Start with the computer off.
2. Power on the unit, this should cause the Acer POST screen to appear.
3. During the Acer POST screen, press and hold the Alt key on your keyboard, and tap the F10 key on your keyboard.
4.If timed correctly, this should cause the unit to go to a black screen that says "Windows is loading files...".
5. After the "Windows is loading files" screen you should be in Acer e-recovery management. At this point follow the on-screen instructions to restore the unit to factory defaults.

My Acer has a screan has the acer logo on it and askes me to click the Del: enter setup F12: reboot menu, Need help please.

Have you tried ignoring the message and letting it boot normally? The computer might be set to show the POST screen on boot. Let it run and see what happens.
