I have a 2007 Honda Shadow Spirit 750 that had a modified brake light mounted on the side of the bike near left shock. The tail light does not work when the bike is running, but the brake light does. I troubleshot points, including the bulb, fueses and wiring. Noticed that the wiring that leads to the rear brake has been severed and reattached. the horness is still intact with the brown, yellow/green and solid green wires. However the yellow/green wire is not connect to anything. Where does this wire go, as I think that is what's keeping the taillight from working. Any idea where the yellow/green wire goes?

it be a bad ground connection to the bikes frame or a bad ignition switch

Ensure the bulb is correctly fitted!!
You must have a foot hand brake switch mal-adjusted / faulty. back them both off (If possible) and it should extinguish.
Does it still work with headlamps off?? If so then one of the switches are faulty / need adjusting.
While something has gone wrong to cause the light to stop working, you could spend hours trouble shooting and replacing parts or you can purchase a repair manual from: http://clymer.com/SearchResults.aspx?t=VT1100&y=2005&mid=125&mn=Honda&
