Check under your Control Panel and Program and find "Uninstall a program". Look for the listed McAfee application and remove any listed components. Upon completion of the software de-install (usually) it tells you it has completed the de-install. After it completes, reboot your system. After the reboot it should no longer appear. Let me know the outcome.

Issue Description This document explains the McAfee Auto-Renewal program, and how to cancel it if required. All paid subscription services are automatically enrolled in the McAfee Auto-Renewal program. This feature ensures your virus protection is not interrupted. Without the auto-renewal feature, you would no longer be protected when your license expires.

For more details about the McAfee Auto-Renewal program, see CS40083.

I have a Norton account with automatic renewal. It is on automatic renewal with a renewal date of April 15. My PC was recently serviced and the repair form replaced Norton with McAfee. I was happy...

go to http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CBsQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.mynortonaccount.com%2F&ei=8aE9TebgKIHGlQfix_TTDA&usg=AFQjCNEF1whBt6NtlZlxw-OaCVM7XaVmAQ

use the account information you used to create the account. Once in there you can uncheck the product in the auto renewal feature.

I woudl also suggest telling the repair person they should be more informed. McAfee is not as good as norton in anyway. You also do not need to buy a new PC to get norton you can get it from a store as well.

I would also suggestyou lookign in to Avast! or AVG virus scan. They work better and use less computer resources (memory, cpu time, etc) than both norton and mcafee.
