Remote control sensor broken

My Samsung TV recently stopped recognizing the remote controller. I changed the batteries and tried a universal remote, but it's still not working. I assume it's a problem with the IR sensor. Is this an easy problem that can be fixed by a novice, or should I try to take it to a repair shop? If I take it to a shop, what should I expect to pay?

I was trying to test a universal remote on my sanyo tv, it didnt work, but now my sanyo remote that came with the tv doesn[t

For your original remote control, try to remove the case of the remote control then check the battery terminals that is connected in the pcb board if loosed, then for the sensor if you have a cellphone with a camera point the sensor in the camera and try to press any button you will see a glowing red light if no your sensor is defective. But be sure to assemble your remote and replace the battery.

My remote control will not work on my TV. I have changed the batteries and tried a couple of universal remotes also with no luck. Any suggestions as to what the problem may be?

You can test your remote using a digital camera. Your phone camera will do.
Turn on the camera, point the remote at the camera and look at the screen. Press a button on the remote. You should see the LED light up. It this happens, the remote is working.
Your TV has a sensor that can see the LED's flashes. It may be defective.
Try unplugging the TV for a minute to reset the processor, that may clear the problem.
Turn off any flourescent lights or any recently added lighting to me sure that is not affecting the remotes operation.
Remove the batteries from any other remotes present (in case one is transmitting some information)
Hope these tips help.
Good luck.

The Emerson TV won't respond to the remote

If the Duraband doesn't work the Philips remote below worked on mine. If it doesn't then it probably is the sensor. I just purchased one of these televisions and it didn't come with a remote. However, a Philips Universal Remote (SRU2103/27)
with a code 0520 works fine. I haven't explored all the codes but I can easily change from tv stations to Video 1 and Video 2 merely by pressing the "Input" button on the remote.

Remote does not work for TV

I assume you had new batteries in the original remote and that the Universal remote was programmed correctly for your TV.

Are there any lights on the old remote that flash when you press a button? If so, does it light?

If the TV doesn't respond to a remote, and the remote is verified to be in working order, then the infrared sensor in the TV is defective amd needs replaced.

Good Luck,

I'm sorry, but it's "shop time" for your set. You have lost the clock or voltage going to the interface panel, and that's why nothing works from the remote or front panel...accordianman

SHARP T.V. not responding to remote, but remote isn't broken

Same thing happened to my Sharp 29 inch. Stopped responding to original remote the first time, but a universal worked fine. Eventually it stopped responding too all universal remotes. The remotes are good, they work with my VCR, DVD player, and Receiver. It's a nice TV, but having to get up and adjust the volume every commercial break got old a few decades ago! If anyone has any other possible solutions aside from getting the sensor replaced...would be great to hear it.
