Epson xp430 paper jam, but I can't find any jam!

They don't tell lies :>) Even the smallest piece of paper over the sensor will record a jam. This often happens when you have a jam and you pull the paper and it tears a piece off. Open all the doors, remove the paper tray, remove all the toner or cartridges and look with a flashlight. Always pull paper jam paper in the direction it was going, undo tensioner clips if present and pull paper evenly and slowly as not to tear the paper. If you do, keep the paper and find the piece that fits the piece that is missing.

HP 4215xi all in one, continues to give the error paper jam, there is no paper jam. I have cleaned all sensors, rollers etc. I have tried a partial and full reset. Any ideas?

Hi,
  1. Turn off the HP product and turn it around so the back of the unit faces you.
  2. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the all-in-one. The power cord must be disconnected to allow the paper feed rollers to turn freely.
  3. Locate and open the rear access door by pressing in on the left side tab and then pulling the door toward you. Figure 2: Removing the rear access door
2f7e0aa.jpg

Inspect the pressure rollers on the rear access door and verify that they are clean and turn freely. Clean the rollers if needed with a soft towel lightly moistened with water. If the rollers do not turn freely, replace the rear access door. Click How to Buy on this page to order replacement parts.
  1. From the rear access door opening, remove the jammed paper.
  2. Remove the remaining paper from the paper supply tray. Discard any paper that is damaged or crumpled and then re-stack and reload the paper into the paper supply tray.
  3. Reinstall the rear access door.
  4. Reconnect the power cord to the unit and turn the unit on.

The following information will help prevent paper jams from occurring:
  • Never use paper that is torn or wrinkled.
  • If you are having problems using paper that has already been printed on once (recycling), replace it with new paper.
  • Remove and then reinstall the rear access door. Verify that the access door is fully locked in place. The paper can skew if the rear access door is not locked.
  • Every six months to one year, clean the paper feed rollers with a rag lightly moistened with water. Over time the paper feed rollers accumulate dust and do not function as well as they once did.
  • When printing envelopes, tuck the flap into the envelope and crease the folds before printing.
Goodluck..

Canon printer error code 6A81

Solution 1: This is a purge unit error.
There maybe something jamming the purge unit or just a absorber out of place which is picking up on the carriage preventing it from moving correctly.
Try to move the carriage away from the purge (its where the printhead/carriage parks its self on the right side of the machine) with no resistance then you can shine a torch into the machine and look at the purge unit.
There maybe crumpled paper jammed in the purge.
If all looks well, the purge unit may be defective and had to be replaced.

Solution 2:
The wiper on the purge may have stuck. It slides back and forth and they have been known to stick.
Push it with a long screwdriver to see if it moves.

Solution 3:
Something is blocking the printer inside. It could be a paper jam or a foreign object.
Check using a flashlight, to ensure there is nothing obstructing the paper feed mechanism down inside the printer where it is not easily seen.
If there is nothing obvious, unplug the printer power supply.

Printer will not work. Error E3

What may have happened is that the Paper sensor is locked down and tells the printer that there is paper in the path (although there isn't any). The paper sensor is a toggle switch and there is a paddle that pushes it down as the paper goes in/out. Look on the right side of the unit ,under the roller assembly. Sorry, but I do not have a service manual for this unit.

Error list :

E2-2 = No paper (ASF)
E3-3 = Paper jam
E4 = No ink
E5-5 = The ink cartridges are not installed or a non-supported ink cartridge is installed, or the ink cartridges are not installed properly
E8 = Waste ink absorber full, or platen waste ink absorber full
E9 = The connected digital camera / video camera does not support Camera Direct Printing
E14 = The Ink cartridges whose destination are wrong
E15 = Ink cartridge is not installed E16 - Ink remaining is unknown
E16 -E19 = Failed to scan head alignment sheet
E22 = Carriage error
E23 = Paper feed error
E24 = Purge unit error
E25 = ASF(cam) sensor error
E26 = Internal temperature rise error
E27 = Waste ink absorber full or platen waste ink absorber full
E28 = Ink cartridge temperature rise error -
E29 = EEPROM error
E33 = Paper feed position error
E35 15 = USB Host VBUD overcurrent error - USB
E37 17 = Abnormal motor driver error
E40 20 = Other hardware error
E42 22 = Scanner error

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Document jam

I had this totally annoying problem this morning. After looking for any obvious paper jams or small bits of loose paper, I tried several fixes: 1) open front cover, release levers that hold white rollbar in place, roll the bar forward to make sure nothing is stuck behind it, snap levers back in place; DID NOT fix the problem; 2) open top cover, remove print cartridge, look for jammed paper bits, close cover; DID NOT fix the problem; 3) unplug the machine, wait a few minutes, turn machine back on; DID NOT fix the problem. I even unplugged the machine, opened ALL the covers, turned the machine upside down and shake it to see if any paper clips, staples, or other objects have fallen inside the machine; DID NOT fix the problem. FINALLY, I pulled the paper feed tray forward, reached down to the feed rollers, twisted them a few turns, put paper back in the machine, and the "paper jam" message disappeared! This may not work for everyone, but it worked for me today, so I hope this helps someone out there to have a better day.

Paper jam

I too have this infuriating problem and the reason has already been pinpointed very well it is indeed the front rubber pinch cam not grabbing the paper well. I have approached this problem from another angle... under the front sprung loaded flap on the paper tray
there are two compression springsapprx 1/2" in dia. Gently prise apart the 2 flap pivot (on the extended arms) to gain access to the springs ,pull out the springs and either replace them with slightly stronger ones or pull the existing springs apart to retension them and pop them back (long-nosed pliers or tweezers) this will restore the spring tension lost during use with the rubber pinch cam.

You have two issues at same time. 1: your printer may have a jam somewhwere. remove all paper, and open unit cover, and see if you can find any bits of paper jammed, remember they can be minute and will still cause big problems. check thoroughly behind unit too, sometimes it helps to use a torch. When you put paper back in, only place a very thin stack, too much will cause feed problems and jams. Make sure paper rest is correctly installed too, and the paper guides either side are not pressing too tight on paper stack sides, they should sit gently beside in line with it not pressuring it. Also check if roller is even, inside and down back. Flick paper stack in fingers to separate pages and never feed bent dogeared or marked paper into unit, even a tiny little notch in it will catch. Try printing now. The scanner issue can usually be resoved by uninstalling the whole printer and reinstalling it, ensuring a thorough reset. Good luck and post back if no help.
