Question about SimpleTech SimpleDrive Pininfarina 500GB External USB 2.0 Hard Drive - Onyx
I use my SimpleTech to store mp3s and I listen to them from there. (I:)
Winamp is installed on my hard drive. (C:) It used to work fine, but now music skips then freezes and the drive (I:) can no longer be accessed.
I also get the Delayed Write failed error. I tried reducing the cache size with cacheset. This happens only when using Winamp.
Sometimes when I turn Simpletech on, it simply will not show up. I have to use the usb port to get it to come back. And most of the time I can't eject it. Generic Volume can't be stopped. Even after using Unlocker.
This thing drives me crazy. I feel like it's only a matter of time before I lose everything on it.
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOMETIME WHEN THE RAM IS LESS THE ADDITIONAL DRIVES ARE NOT READ WHEREAS THEY ARE SHOWN AS AVAILABLE, BUT WHEN YOU CLICK ON THAT , THE PC HANGS....SO FIRST CHECK HOW MUCH RAM YOU ARE USING, IF IT IS LESS THEN UPGRADE IT BY MINIMUM 1 GB TO PERFORM THIS TASK

If you really can not get it to work anymore, you could try opening it up and connecting the hdd directly on a IDE/SATA port in your computer. This will only work if you have a desktop, for a laptop you would need all kinds of converters.

It sounds like you might have a problem with the power supply.
I have seen MANY external hard drives with failing power supplies. Take it to the store you purchased it from for a check up, it should still be under warrantee if its only 3 months old.

I had the exact same problem. Solved by removing Simpletech drive from the 'flashy-box'. Unplugged drive from internals and threw the 'Pinnaferrina' case away and installed it on my motherboards extra sata plugin site (if it has one). If you open your computer case it should be labled on the Motherboeard as such. Mine has four. On the first attempt when I started the computer i Had no OS system showing on first boot-up. Shut off computer and power and shifted SATA (RED Cable) to another Sata plug on Motherboard and it booted right up and I had the drive back. You will need a longer Sata cable than the attached to the Simpletech drive and a power cable that matches the one on the Simletech . Forget looking for the drivers on the net and the Simpletech web site was no use.
