The answer is not acceptable - the arm DOES lower, however, the arm touches the album/record only on the outer edge and does not advance onto the grooved area to start playing the music. It needs to be adjusted, but I need instructions to do this adjustment.

U will need to remove the turntable from the unit and then remove the bottom cover the mechanism that controls the arm dropping onto the record is there, operate the unit and observe the way the arm moves, if there is an adjustment you will see it that way, i really doubt there is one.

Zenith turntable/cassette player/8 track. Serial # 934l4, Can't tell if the model # is IS 40 81-3 or 1 S (Or 15 4081), made in Taiwan. Wondered what age it is and if there are tubes inside?

Cassette tapes began to supplant 8 track in the mid 70's, so this is probably a transitional unit. Kind of like now - there are DVD players out there that still have VHS slots. I'd say late 70's and I'd guess no tubes.

Does old Zenith Allegro Console Stereo - 8 track/AM/FM/turntable, have a belt drive phono? I can see metal gears to drive the stuck turntable .

The manufacturers of such items would usually buy in such hardware as record turntables from fairly standard catalogues.

One popular brand of turntable was the BSR but the design of other brands were similar. The metal gears aren't for driving the turntable but to drive the multichange mechanism so when one record has finished playing another will drop from the stack loaded onto the extended centre spindle.

This type of turntable is driven by a synchronous motor with a multidiameter spindle via a moveable idler wheel equipped with a soft rubber tyre. Lack of maintenance causes many problems and as the rubber tyre ages it tends to harden and lose traction on the inside of the steel turntable so when the record reaches the end and the metal gears engage there is insufficient torque and everything stops.
It is for that reason many older examples have had the multichange removed or disabled.

Removing the turntable centre motif should reveal a circlip which when removed will allow the turntable to be removed for maintenance.

Is there any universal remotes that will work with a spirit of st louis radio, cd player, and phonograph? son broke the remote.

There are, but it's..... hit and miss.
The remotes don't cover all remote devices.

You will need the serial # and the brand B-4 you shop for a remote.

Not available from the manufacturer?

The label has likely been removed or come off, most of those had it on the rear or bottom with a few inside where the phono is.
