Question about Coleman Powermate DuraBuilt 1400 PSI Pressure Washer

Open Question

DuraBuilt 1404. Motor kicks in for two seconds, then quits. High pressure hose blew off and I could barely get it threaded back on. Quick coupler broke so I hooked garden hose up direct. Is lack of quick coupler maybe the problem? Could I be missing a part on high pressure hose that makes it so difficult to thread onto male fitting? Thanks! Bob

How do I release pressure from the hose on a pressure washer

would it be possible to unscrew the quick connect fitting SLOWLY until water starts to drip out of threads thus allowing the pressure to drop down slowly to the point of being able to release the hose coupler?

Leaking coupler while compressor is running but only when hose is plugged in.

If the leak is around the threads use a nylon thread tape on the threads on the hose. If it's leaking from the center, then there might be something jammed in there holding the shut off valve slightly open

I can't get the pressure washer to start up. The water is coming out of the hose, but there is no water pressure

If the washer is the kind that shuts off completely when the pistol grip is released, the problem is likely the little pressure sensor located near the output fitting (the threaded part to which the hose connects). The sensor is a little plunger held down against an opening in the side of the pipe by a spring when there is low or no pressure in the output pipe, as when the trigger is pulled and the pressurized water in the hose is released by pulling the trigger. That completes the electrical circuit and the washer is on and continues pumping water. When the trigger is released, water in the hose and output pipe jams up super high pressure, forcing tjhe little plunger out against the spring, and the electrical circuit is broken. If you take the case apart, you will see wires coming from that area. The fix (if this is the problem) is to free up the little plunger.

well it is called a hose adapter you can get them at rural king for around $8.00 or so they come already fitted to a piece of threaded pipe so all youhave to do is remove whats left of your old coupling and reinstall new one .
