WHAT won't shut off? Also, an alternator output NEEDS to go to the BATTERY side of an ignition switch. An alternator input/excitation needs to be on the IGNITION side of the switch.

There isn't one unless it was jury-rigged into the vehicle by a previous owner
the only kill switch as standard is the one on the steering column that you put the key into

My Range Rover kill switch will not shut off and engine won't start

There are only to Kill switches I know of. The inertia switch for the fuel cut off. They just don't pop on their own. Ford had a problem back in the mid 80's, but fixed it. I have never replaced one. Reset a few because of accidents. The other kill Switch is security. There is no reset for this. You have to have the codes read, see what part of it is malfunctioning. Could be the the key, receiver, wiring, or the module. Could be the ECU. It takes a scanner to read the security codes.

2008 vw jetta key will not turn off the engine

sounds like the ignition switch (opposite the lock) has gone bad.
I'm not sure if you are looking for the source of the problem or a fix like what parts do you need or just how to shut off the engine ?

you can remove the shroud around the steering column find the switch and unplug the wiring harness from the switch. this should kill the engine.

If you don't want to dis-assemble the shroud, then you can pop the hood, find the coil pack (I don't know if the VW uses one big coil or several small coils for each cylinder/spark plug).
If it uses several small coils, there should be a main controller for all of them. unplug the controller or the one large coil. this will kill the engine.

Next you will want to disconnect the battery so it does not drain over night.

Because we don't know the condition of the switch, I can not tell you if re-connecting the battery and the coils will allow the car to start again or not. So make sure you kill it some where convenient and not in the way, also easy for a tow truck to get to if you may need one.

Hope this helps

My troybilt bronco riding mower won't start the gas n oil r fine when I turn key it has no fire

possibly a bad starter switch which has a built in kill switch. There is a wire that goes up to the coil that is used to kill the spark when you shut it down and also goes in the safety circuit to prevent it from starting unless everything is in the right position. sometimes you can unhook the wire and still run safely. if it doesn't shut down when the switch is in the off position a toggle switch can be wired in to ground the circuit if you need it.

Manual kill switch

are you refering to an auto start? if you want to install a kill switch all you have to do is go to your stearing collum, of course your going to take the pannles off, find the big red wire thats main ignition to the switch cut and splice a toggle or a axilary key switch in line that will allw you to kill power to the ignition sutting down the rig hope it was helpfull but still need more info on what your asking

Neither of my coolant fans work. The car was in a low level flood and ever since have not worked. What can I do to fix this?

well it could just need rewired,or it has to be replaced. you maybe able to jerry rig it with its own power supply and a kill switch so you dont kill the battery.

Motor seems to almost scream anywhere over 75 to 80 kms. besides that everything works fine. diagnostic test done shows no problems.

It's not shifting into the right gear. Auto tranny? Check tranny fluid. Contact a reputable transmission mechanic. All good mechanics know and can service transmissions but specialty shops tend to be cheaper and quicker because everything they need to do the job is already set up and waiting. Stop letting it do that until you get it fixed. You'll kill your rig.

Yamaha 115 will not shut off with key or kill switch

not enough information on the motor. what year and model? but all yamaha outboards are shut down by the C.D.I. being grounded by the key switch or the emergency kill switch. the cheapest thing to test or replace is the key switch and the emergency kill. with more info on engine I can help you further.
