Check that there is no paper jammed up on each side of where the print head travels.
Easiest way to do this is to power off/on. While the machine is going through its initial startup listen for when the print head travels along its carriage (from right to left). When you hear it, immediately switch off the power.
Open the main body of the printer and hopefully the print head will be stopped midway, you can then check at each end for any jammed paper.
If this does not solve issue, it will require an engineer.

I have a printer problem, it is a Brother MFC-465CN. the lcd display screen is showing "Unable to Int. 48" can ou help please

This indicates a problem with the print head.

Clean the print head when needed by doing one of the following:

  • Press the Ink or Ink Management key and then select Cleaning. Or

  • Press the Menu key and then select Ink Management, Cleaning.

These cleaning processes do consume an amount of ink.

Cannot cleaan printheads

Did you mean "Unable to clean"?If it's that follow this:
Unplug the printer from power cord.Press and hold the "menu" button, then plug the device. You'll see on
the LCD screen a "machine error" code.If this code is 40,41,49 or 4F the print head is defective. If the
error is 50 or 51 there is error in Purge unit and printer require service. If the error is 48 - defective print
head cable or circuit board. If the error is 46 the waste ink tank is
full.Follow this:
1. Pres 'menu', 'mono start' then 'menu' one by one...
2. Press the arrow up or down to go to 'maintenance 80'.
3. Press 'mono start' several times to go to 'Purge'. Finding the PURGE will show some numeric value which is Iassume the number of times the printer had cleaned.
4. Press 'arrow up' key and scroll for number "2" then press "set".Do the same for numbers 7, 8 and 3.
After you have entered this combination, the purge numeric value will be reset to 00000.
5.Restart printer

Xerox c2424 Printer won't work

34 codes are related to the print head. Print head NVM or the print head itself. Most likely, I would say 95 percent chance of a print head failure.

Brother MFC-240C Error 34

I think error 34 is print head related. I've had the same problem with my 240c but was able to fix it. I took the printer apart to access the print head. It is rather easy to take apart so I won't post a how-to on that. I noticed that the print head was getting kind of stuck on the right side. First, I cleaned the tracts, metal and plastic parts that come with contact with the print head. Then, I lubricated these parts using WD-40. A Q-tip works well for all of this. This resulted in a smoother movement of the print head and solved the problem. I can you can or should use gear grease but I love WD-40.
