Re: hook up to tv
You need a device like a VCR or receiver that has Composite A/V inputs, and can convert the signal to what your TV requires (coaxial right?).
If you have a VCR or Digital Cable Box with A/V inputs, you can connect it to either of these devices and set them to A/V Input. Set the Insignia player to A/V Out by pressing the SOURCE button until it displays A/V OUT on the player screen.

just use an rca connector, connect one end of the connector usually 3 wires for video and audio L/R.hooked up to the video/audio output jack of the dvd player and then the other end to the component input jack of the tv unit either input 1, 2 or 3.
You need to use a receiver and connect the units to the receiver input, Then connect the receiver output to your television's input circuit. This should allow to switch inputs to the television. This can also be done with a switching box that allows several input and output. This unit should be hooked up in the same manner with the outputs to the switch box inputs and the switch box out to the television's input circuit. the difference between the two methods is the receiver has a preamplifier that will increase weak signal levels. The switch box is a passive device and usually will not amplified the signal to the input device. You can buy amplified switch boxes if you need them. Hope this helps you with your problem.
Check the screen switch on the right top side where the door closes there is a little circle and the release switch usually gets jammed (this is a common defect) you will need a small thin flat head screwdriver to pry out the switch.
