Question about SanDisk Sansa e260 MP3 Player

1 Answer

Screen stays black at power up

The lighted blue ring lights up but the screen doesn't come on.  Is there anything I can check or is the screen most likely dead?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Player is less than one year old.

No decent repair service

Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.

Download the Sansa Recovery Tool from the Sansa website.
Format - Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything.
Firmware Upgrade- Erases Everything: Get the latest firmware upgrade from Sansa - it updates the firmware and erases every song in the player all at once. Note: this method doesn't work if already have the latest firmware. Go to this website and click "Firmware Updater" to find out: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/DriverDownloads.aspx

LG 37LG30 wont come on. Gives blue light, but screen stays black and no sound

Sounds like the problem could be in the power supply of the TV. Have a technican check for defective capacitors if you're not equipped to do the job yourself.

Have a RCA flatscreen model # L40FHD41, blue power light comes on and stays solid but I don't get any picture or sound. Screen stays completely black as if it doesn't have any power at all.

Other than checking all the connections going to it for signal it is likely a shop repair.

The nature of these sets is someone must open and inspect them and check for voltages missing.

At that point it becomes a guessing game---try the boards (purchase them) and see if a bad board.

It is always possible the front screen unit or display has failed which is fatal cost wise.

You have to weigh the cost of repair, age of set and cost of replacement in this.

The only way anyone can KNOW which board is bad is to actually remove and replace it----most shops look at it and shoot you a high estimate.

let me know if you have questions.

Replace the entire DAC board (board with power suplly going into it) for easiest solution.

Screen is blank.

Could have blown some capacitors inside the monitor.
I just fixed one today that had no power, the blue ring around the power button didn't even light up when plugged in.
I open it and found 3 bulgingcapacitors on the power/inverter board.
They were all 25V 470uF rated capacitors.
Went to radioshack and found 2 35V 470uf, got them at $1.29 each, then I found 1 50V 470uF out of a dc car power adapter for an ipod, it was as close as I could find.
Replaced the 3 broken/bulging ones with the new/salvaged ones, put it back together, plugged it in and the blue light came on when I pushed the power button.
Plugged it in to my laptop with vga cable, and it works great.

The Screen Stays black and the ring turns blue and thats it

Run the recovery tool from the SanDisk website. Make sure you select "format" when prompted.

http://www.sandisk.com/Assets/File/Downloads/firmware/e200fw01.00.12.exe

You need to put the device into "recovery mode" before you run the tool.

- Turn the device off (hold power for 20 seconds)
- Slide the hold switch into "hold" position.
- Press and hold the "record" button while connecting it to your computer. Keep holding the "record" button until you see the "new hardware found" on your computer.

Then run the recovery tool. Select format when prompted.

Best of Luck.

Mp3 player wont play songs or anything

Only 2 suggestions here: 1) Make sure your HOLD switch is not enabled. 2) Try to update the firmware If neither of these work, time to send the unit back to Sandisk
