Question about HP OfficeJet 6110 All-In-One InkJet Printer

I used my HP 6110xi all-in-one to make copy of a book (165 pages). Then the next day, I found out the message showing on the screen of the subject officejet as: " Scanner Failure, Turn off the power and then turn it on". I turned it on again. The machine started warming up and then a strange sound comes out like gear rubbing sound. After about 30 seconds,that sound is off and the above message showing up on the screen. Then the machine is stuck there. No buttons on the machine works. I tried to turn it off and wait for a longer time to turn it on again. But it happens again. No matter how many times I tried. It is same. Please kindly let me know how to fix this problem.

SOURCE: scanner failure

Solution one: Check the scanner light Make a color copy of any document by pressing the Start Copy Color button on the product control panel. While the product is making the copy, lift the scanner lid slightly to see if the scanner light is visible.

  • If the scanner mechanism moves across the scan bed, but the light is not lit, proceed to Solution six: Service the product .
  • If the light is lit, proceed to the next solution.
Solution two: Check operating conditions Extreme temperatures can affect the operation of the product. Make sure the operating conditions match those recommended in the User Guide provided with the product. Solution three: Check the power connections
  1. Make sure that the part number on the power supply matches the part number listed in the User Guide .
  2. Disconnect the power cord from any power strips or surge suppressors, and then plug it directly into a wall outlet.
  3. Try making a color copy by pressing the Start Copy Color button on the product control panel.
    • If the copy job is successful, you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
  4. If the error message displays again, temporarily move the product to a different room, or plug the power cord into a different wall outlet.
  5. Try making a color copy by pressing the Start Copy Color button on the product control panel.
    • If the copy job is successful, you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
    • If the error message displays again, proceed to the next solution.
Solution four: Perform a power cycle
  1. Turn the product off.

    • If the partial reset resolves the issue, you do not need to continue troubleshooting.

  2. Press and hold # and 6 while reconnecting the power cord to the product, and then release both buttons.
  3. Try making a color copy by pressing the Start Copy Color button on the product control panel.
Solution six: Service the product

call in to hp at 1800-474-6836 and since this is a hardware issue directly tell the agent you would like an upgrade if you decide to get it.
It will have a 50% discount on the upgrade printer for you with hardware and software covered by a one year warranty which you can extend upto 3 years on the spot

Print function


Hi,

The printer prints alignment page; after enter button.
Place the printed page in scanned glass properly.
Press the scan button and wait untill the ON light stops blinking.
Now alignment is completed.

I now have a message on my 6110xi printer which says "remove and check cartridge". When I remove and check, they both seem fine - when I reinstall, the message remains.


Try another cartridge. Sometimes they go bad. If the message goes away, then your cartridge is bad. Otherwise, try cleaning off the contacts where the cartridge goes in.

HP 6110xi cartridge align under Vista Home Premium


it is necessary to place the allign page in the scanner and then press the enter button and the scanner will read the allign ment page as it will take 2 minutes and then it will display the message allignment complete message then it will become normal as it was .so after u get the allignment page place it in the scanner unit of the printer and then press enter.

"DARK PAPER USED" Message


I found a copy of the manual, and on page 202 the "Dark Paper Used" message can be caused by three things:

1. Paper used is colored or stained -- replace with clean white paper.

2. Paper was pulled from machine before the fax was ejected completely.

3. The received document support is not installed correctly. Page 3 in the manual shows this support as the rear-most, and it looks like it should be installed with the upright portion angling toward the rear at about a 30 degree angle.

I receive a consistent message that alignment of cartridges failed.


Ensure you are using original HP cartridges. Using refilled/generic inks can cause this problem.
If you are using original inks, try cleaning the contacts of the cartridges gently with isopropyl alcohol. Should it still fail, get them replaced.

The above solution was Comment by IrishDruid, posted on Jun 01, 2008. I tried it on my HP officeject 6110xi (using alcohol swabs). It worked perfectly.

All in one printer


This seems to be a paper registration problem for the copy function only that is an HP thing Good old HP so innovative and so secretive none of us know whats going on most of the time. Two things to try. Take the stack of paper out of the feed tray and riffle so that it is slightly 'untidy' switch off the device , load the paper, switch on- see what happens. Next look at the software disk- there is usually a fully comprehensive reference manual on there [more than in the book]- check that out then come back.
