Frozen product arrived at my home.

I ordered them (Acct No. 11190931) 01/30/14, pad with chk #1473, dtd 2-10-14. Product was a nice size, however, was delivered on my doorstep 2 wks ago - frozen. I immediately unwrapped them and put them in the window with other plants to see if they would pull out of it. I report that today they are totally dead and wilted without any hope of survival. I would still like replacement of these two items without further charge due to a more appropriate "sending" time for S.D. conditions. Thank you - I hope to hear from you very soon to rectify this situation.

SOURCE: the electrical system is totally dead

Check your battery leads and make sure you have good clean connection first. If that doesn't solve the problem, start looking for wires that may have been misplaced during the work on your car and see if you can spot any melted wires. Also, check all connections on your altermator and battery status. One of these should lead you to the problem.

SOURCE: I cut the car off and it will not crank. The electrical system is totally dead?? I sparked the battery terminal and there is power. Can not get the car out of park, no electrical power at all.

If you know for sure the battery is charged, it could be a dirty battery cable end, or a blown maxi fuse.
Could also be a bad ground connection.

One pad is not working

Hi -

Your description of the problem tends to point toward a frozen caliper. A sure way to tell is to switch the brake pads (inner for outer on the side the problem exists) and drive for a few thousand miles. If it is a frozen caliper, the good pad should wear down quickly. If that's what happens, I'd bet the caliper is frozen.
Of course doing the work yourself will be the least expensive way to fix it. You can purchase a rebuild kit relatively inexpensively. You need to feel comfortable working on small auto parts and have a day free. I'd say for a novice, it's a job that can be done, but will offer some challenge. Patience is the key!
Oh, don't put yourself in danger. Switching the pads would only offer a safe diagnostic tool if the pads both have plenty of wear left in them (a minimum of 5/32") I hope this helps and saves you $ !

I have a a pick-up B-3000 extend cab and the rear door are stuck from the button. How can opens these doors?

  • If it's simply the car door lock that's frozen, try heating your car key with a lighter and inserting it into the lock. The heat from the metal may be enough to thaw the ice and allow you to unlock it. To ensure that the lock will not freeze again, spray it with WD-40.

  • If the entire door is frozen, carefully chip the ice away from the edges with a scraper. Be careful not to scratch the paint of the car. If you cannot chip the ice away, try pouring some windshield washer fluid on the icy areas; windshield washer fluid contains alcohol and this may help melt the ice.

  • Use a blow dryer set on high to melt the surrounding ice.

  • The best way to open a frozen car door and prevent future frustration is to purchase de-icer. Many good brands are available at hardware and auto shops - just be sure the solvent displaces moisture and leaves behind a lubricant. If the lock itself is frozen, spray the product directly into the key hole, wait five seconds and then put in your key and try to turn it. Most of these products have straws that help direct the product out of the can and into small areas, making the de-icing process easy.

Once the door is open, consider spraying the de-icer along the hinges of the door to keep other parts from freezing. Keep the de-icer in your home or garage where you can easily find it. Do not keep it in your vehicle. Having de-icer in your frozen vehicle won't do you much good.

I am looking to replace my rotors and brake pads on my 2002 cadillac deville. Does anyone know what size rotor, i.e rotor thickness and type, and a good place to buy them online?

I suggest to go to www.autoanything.com you can enter your information of your vehicle and you will receive a nice selection and fair prices of parts for your vehicle including product reviews. They also offer free shipping.

How change the back brakes pads

I believe that describing a rear brake job, with the springs and all, is too difficult on here. You need pictures, extensive descriptions.

Suggest you either buy, or check out of a library, a book on auto repair. Chilton or Haynes are both good ones. While a book specific to your vehicle is nice (and if you buy it, makes most sense) any GM product from that year range with drum brakes should have a clear explanation of the how - to.
